Hahaha, know what you mean, I picked up “wet-shaving” about 6months ago, got the gf involved, wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more. lol

So far spent about $1000 on shaving, because an engineer buddy of mine told me it was less expensive - 100 blades for only $8.29. Yep, the blades are cheap, the rest of the gear can be through-the-roof expensive, shavers, soaps and brushes. Oh well, it’s a great deal of fun to be had, the shaves are so close and smooth, but it does take some practice to get good at it - a mild learning curve involved.

So this holiday season, only grabbing a Maximus XI Apex motherboard for the primary work rig, and an Optane 905P 280GB PCIe Add-In-Card (with cool blue leds :cool:

). Sitting out the Intel 9000 Processor Series, it’s the same silicon with factory reset boost clocks and two added cores, and my work rigs won’t benefit at all moving from the current Coffee Lake 6/12s (8700K 8086K), which seem to be the absolute sweet spot for creating very fast lowest latency and inaudible work rigs at this current place in time. :toast:

I have no plans on making any more upgrades to my current pc now. If i buy any thing, it would be a new monitor 4K capable with G-sync. My current X58 system is configured and tweaked to it bedst possible now and intel does not offer something that i think is a must have. Ill be waiting and see what intel can offer when they finally get to a lower NM die CPU.

And gpu wise, i have a gtx 1080 ti so its not like i lag gpu power either and ngreedia's 2000 series cards is exspensive and 2080 ti is not worfh the trouble according to price vs performance and ray traycing you cant even 4k with it on. 2080 non ti does not offer any thing to be desired over 1080 ti in opinion.

There are plenty. I use a Logitech G610 mechanical with Cherry MX Brown keys. The entry level Patriot Viper mechanical kB only has one color (rgb colors on higher end models) is all metal and very satisfying and sturdy.

There are probably 30!or 40 more really good ones under $100.

Nothing, really. Not exactly the best moment for upgrading, for me at least.

I get the feeling I will upgrade when AMD releases the last iteration of Zen (whichever it may be) for AM4, if I go red, otherwise if I stick with Intel who knows what I'll pick up. Looking back, I always end up building or buying a PC on the latest and last thing available for a platform that is soon to be or already replaced by a newer one (Pentium MMX, Pentium III, Prescott-256 Celeron D for socket 478 and now Haswell, Broadwell doesn't count since I never even saw one single CPU of that type)...

If I upgrade anything at all, it will be storage, since I'm kinda close to the limit of my hard drives, so I'd get another one.

Black Friday was a scam this year. Retailers boosted prices 1-2 weeks ago. Shipping prices seem to be higher than before.

RX 580 is around $200 on NewEgg, but with shipping and VAT, the final price is around $260.

I'll definitely get more RAM. 8GB don't cut it if you wanted to run newer game at maxed settings. Two of such game is Rise of Tomb Raider and Shadow of Tomb Raider, even at 1080p and 8GB VRAM GPU.

I bought a new 480 GB SSD, the same brand and the same type as I have in my "old but gold" laptop - Team L3 EVO 480 GB for 73€ total. Again, Team L3 EVO was the cheapest 480 GB SSD, just like 1 year ago or so when I bought the same SSD for my laptop.

I voted nothing, but then a week later I end up purchasing components and end up with a complete new system. My Z270 board had a PCIE slot fail so my SLI setup wasn't. Decided to give Ryzen a shot, and gave up on SLI due to dwindling support on new titles.
