Got my cooler master v8 rentention bracket for intel today, i still have problems tightning my cooler even with the new bracket.

(first time i used the bracket i mounted it as i should i got 80-90 degrees (celsius), the brackets are crap.

I am on my way back home after i have bought a corsair h100i and i was thinking when i have the money what fans should i buy, sp or af from corsair? (i have af quiet fans in my cabinet)should i buy quiet or high performance?

SP120 fans - They are ideal to be used on a radiator as opposed to and AF120 fan. Between QE and PE, that will up to you. If you are going to OC, then I'd go for PE, but if you want to keep your system as silent as possible, then go with the QE. It's just a matter of self preference.

I have 2 x SP Performance Edition fans pushing/2 x original fans pulling on my H100, all hooked up to one channel of my 30w/ch fan controller, but with the thin radiator, 4 fans are not really needed. My load temps are within 2c whether it's on low or full speed, and I only use high when running IBT or other intense benchmarks to test stability at high overclocks. So I would advise you to get SP120 QE fans if you only overclock to 4500 MHz or less, but get the SP120 PE fans if you like to push the limits. The QE fans also come with resistor pigtail to reduce voltage to 7v for even quieter operation. If you already have a fan controller, get the PE fans and turn them down (they only draw 3 watts each maximum).

I only have a 17 870 i can't even oc it to 4 ghz, i have gone back to std walues instead of 3.520ghz (bclk 160 and ram 1600mhz instead of 1333mhz), not much difference in temperatures, don't miss more power from my cpu.

I have asked on corsair's forum and other places, the corsair H100i vill never be real silent, i now have it running at 500 rpm and it's still not what you would call silent (quiet setting is 1150rpm), temperatures are normal (have 1x140 and 2x120mm corsair af quiet running at mid settings on my nanoxia deep silence cabinet and they are silent even at max they are not loud with one of my side panels off).

I have searched and asked another place for a silent cpu air cooler and i have now ordered me a Thermalright True Spirit 140

The only big difference between a loud cooler and a silent cooler are the fans used. It doesn't make sense to buy an air cooler when the H100 is vastly superior and all you really need is to find fans you prefer.

I would suggest the high static pressure Corsair fans and a fan controller to control them.

Since noise level is subjective from the observer's standpoint, it'd be really difficult to define what silent and what loud from one person to another, it's really a gray area. What loud to you, may be considered silent to others.. at the end, we'll just have to play it by ear to what's noise level is acceptable and what is not.

I'm inclined to agree with erocker, these coolers are natively silent in general - the type of fans you used on them will be the x factor to label a cooler silent or not.

What about Noctua fans? I literally have my room full of them and I still can't hear any noise :)

To be honest my pump setup is louder, lol.

Ive heard the static pressure optimised Noctua is pretty good but i would trust its specs..

I replaced my Scythe GTs because they started whining loudly, could have been just my issue though...

Talking about 1850RPM version.

I also ditched the GTs for weird noises. I feel like I'm getting more and more neurotic or something because I'm at the point where for me every fan from every brand makes unpleasant sounds. Probably going to end up with some giant passive radiator setup one day.

You obviously don't know the new Corsair or might not have heard it, the fans you can adjust in almost any possible way thru software (corsair link), even at 500 rpm i can easily hear the fans and as i mentioned many times when i apply to noise and fans for my corsair h100i, quiet setting is 1150 rpm and it's absolutely not silent at this rpm.

Have tried to set my corsair af quiet case fans to minimum and only close to max i can hear some airflow from the 3 corsair fans, going from 1150 to 500 rpm on my cpu cooler i can hear a big difference in noise from the fans, sounds like the noise from the air is lower, but i still get some noise, sound from my cpu cooler, if it's the pump i am not shure (first time experience with water cooling).

R11-Corsair-H100i-KitFan - YouTube

Shure i could have tried other fans, i just desided to buy a new cpu cooler, with some advise from another forum(almost the same price as new fans) these fans in the link are more quiet then the standard ones, but not recomended because of performance, if i had the chance to tru some other fans i might have bought me some new fans instead of a new cpu cooler BUT 1 fan (new air cpu cooler) will always have less noise then 2 fans, not 100% shure that the pump is silent (non audible)

My computer is my hobby, so i know i sometimes have to buy a product to test it to se if it's good enough for what i wanna use it for, even when i read alot of review's and ask more then one time for new fans, oc,harddrive or something else. I also know i often lose alot of money on my hobby, when i buy something i can't return and have to sell cheap or if i just upgrade alot.

That's the same with many people who has a hobby they like to spend alot of money on, don't think so much about what it cost (just make shure you get it at the lowest price), just be glad you can afford to spend money on your hobby.

No, I know all about the "new corsair". Perhaps it's the pump that you're hearing then. Maybe you should look for some sound dampening material to line your case since you seem more sensitive than most people to noise.

Try watching a video at normal level (not loud) and then try the sound samples to the right pretty impressive, might help you deside which brand you should look at

It won't. That's not the issue. The problem is no manufacturer I know of sound tests every fan for bearing noises. It's about a 50/50 crapshoot as to whether or not you won't get a bum fan. The odds can be much worse depending on the brand. For instance every one of the 4 different corsair hydro coolers I've had came with bum fans.

I have a nanoxia Deep silence 1 case that is as silent as corsair obesidan 550D, cooler master silencio 550, 650 and all the other "silent" cases.

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/4981/nanoxia_deep_silence_ds1_mid_tower_chassis_review/index8.html

My Cooler master v8 that i have sold is an air cpu cooler that is more silent then the corsair H100i

I would say if you do extreme oc and have the corsair H100i, you may want to buy new fans, the standard ones are loud, but theres no doubt they are good at keeping your cpu cool

I would not suggest Corsair fans at all for rads. Their round frames doesnt perfectly seal onto the rad frame so pressure leaks therefor less performance.

I suggest NF-F12s or Gentle Typhoon AP15s (Which are known to be the best rad fans there are).
