what do I do with my dvd-rw my new motherboard doesn't have ide ata

I just bought this motherboard ASRock 970 PRO3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 AT...

as I was merging components I run into my dvd-rw that has ide 100 interface, what do I do now? or is the ide hidden somewhere?

You buy an IDE to SATA connector, or you buy a SATA DVD-R drive. I'd go for the latter as they are quite inexpensive. IDE has been phased out.

Yeah an ide to sata adapter is about $5 shipped and who knows how long that drive will last....So you might as well buy a $17 sata drive that'll be about 8x faster...

considering those adapters technically can be slower or even fail at times, plus im not sure if those adapters work in AHCI mode

Sounds like a good excuse to buy a BluRay drive - having the best and fastest and most useless hardware is all part of the fun. Maybe one day blank BD-R discs will be priced reasonably and you could actually use it for storage. Until then at least you'd have bragging rights for your $75!
