Hello!

Im thinking of this setup as my new pc, and i dont know if this will work or if i have missed some thing, need ur opinions!, all help is appreciated!!

Cpu - Intel Core i7 3770K 3.5 GHz (Ivy Bridge)

Motherboard - MSI Z77A-G41 ATX

Graphics card - ASUS Radeon R9 280X 3GB DirectCUII TOP

Ram - Kingston 16GB (2x8GB) CL11 2400Mhz XMP Beast Series

Power - Corsair CS 650W 80+ Gold

Hard drive - Samsung SSD EVO Basic 840-Series 250GB

Cpu fan - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Looks nice, why not Z87 G45 motherboard and 4770K?
You can save money on RAM, because 2400Mhz is rather pointless unless you intend to benchmark for a living. 1600Mhz will do for all games, but I happily stretched towards 2133 for the sake of buying shiny things.

Also what choice of Case?

+1 with rcoon on the cpu and mobo though - get the latest if you're starting from scratch.

I'd change the graphics card to an equivalent nvidia one though, as they tend to have better drivers. Whatever brand you're getting, having a decent non-reference cooler like that is a good choice.

yes the z87 and the 4770k make better sense to buy, all thought i'm curious which ram's i shold get instead of the 2400Mhz kingston, got any particular in mind?

im currently using the Antec Three Hundred as case, but looking for replacement.

1600mhz CL9 RAM, any will do. I like Corsair, Kingston, Crucial, you can't really go wrong. 1866 is the same story, ideally CL10 or something. I've used Corsair 1600, kingston 1600, Crucial 1866 and Kingston 2133 and I have no complaints about any of them.

Antec 300 is a pretty nice robust case if you ask me. If I had to recommend a case, I'd say the Corsair Air 540.

if I had to make a recommendation on RAM, get 1600 or 1866 like RCoon said, and I'd have to recommend Mushkin. An often overlooked brand, but A) I've never had a stick go bad, and B) No matter what is on the compatibility list for a motherboard, I've not found anything that Mushkin RAM wouldn't play nice in right away. It's like O+ blood...the universal donor!

Defo lower the ram and get better CPU/Mobo. Even go for 8GB Ram, 16GB is just not needed unless your doing intense CAD/video editing.

I do heavy photo editing in photoshop with multiply RAW files, and my RAM never gets near full, even in BF4 on Ultra is doesn't get filled.

Personally, I love the way my system runs on 2400 RAM. Gaming aside, there are many processes that benefit from the higher throughput/lower latency. Granted, if 90% of what you do involves gaming, the extra $ are better spent on a video card upgrade, but for me gaming is only 10-15% of my usage. Video conversion and photo editing are a large part of my day, and running fast RAM and a 30% CPU overclock speeds it up measurably. I bought my Beast 2 x 4GB kit for $65, 10 months ago, and 1600 kits were $50 then (a 30% premium). Now the same kit is $110, and 1600 kits are $85 (same 30% increase). RAM in a modern system is rarely a "bottleneck", but that doesn't mean you won't benefit from the faster kit - everything runs in RAM, so faster RAM processes data sooner, maybe not 30% sooner (to justify the cost increase), but to me it's definitely noticeable in memory-intensive programs. As for the amount needed, 8GB is fine for now, but in the near future 16GB will be more easily justified. I wish I'd bought the 16GB kit back when RAM was cheap, then I'd be set for years to come...

3770K +Z77 is fine, get the GD45 at least. Its much easier to overclock for a beginner compared to all kinds of settings with Z87 platform. 1600Mhz ram is plenty for Intel. Also, consider EVO instead of basic 840 if the price difference is not too much.
