no game needs 3 9800's to run maxed out... thats y i said if u want to benchmark good then go for 3.. otherwise put the money into better ram or a better cpu

Thanks DrP, I don't see no problem with showing off your gear, you pay all that money for it so why not. Thats like saying you buy a bugatti veyron and show it to no one. Wheres the logic ??? Anyway that cpu runs pretty cool for overclocking doesn't it ? What have you heard the max a q6600 can go to? Thanks again :nutkick:

I heard of one at about 4.3 and I think that might have been erocker not sure if it was him though. Yes that is very cool but very noisy so when im on tpu and not gaming I have it at stock. Have you bought any of the components yet ?

Fast enough so it looks fluid to you. Number of fps doesn't really matter, unless your wanting to show off how fast it is. Just for playing, any of the configurations you are thinking of will play it quite well.

anything above 30 is very playable and thats what i get with a 8800GT 512. I recommend you get an intel chipset and get a 4870x2 when they come out.

If you want some sound advice, given that your system is already pretty 'high end,' then it would be to wait several months for the launch of Intel's Nehalem chips, the new motherboards, coupled with native DDR3 and the next generation GPUs from Nv/Ati. This could take up to January, but it would be worth it.

If you're suffering from frame issues in Crysis with 9800 Tri-SLi, I don't think you're going to be too impressed with any of the new cards in Cross/SLI.

As for your question of 'ideal fps,' well that's in the eye of the beholder. Crysis is very capable of providing seemingly smooth experience even if the FPS is under 20.
You just need to turn that FPS counter off so you don't stare at it all the time, like the little red light on a camera when you make your first ever appearance on live television.

If you're getting 20-30 fps consistently then any upgrade could possibly be a waste.

bugatti veyron is not a good example because it is the fastest car in the planet and is one of the most expensive

buying a bugatti veyron would probly be preceded by winning the lotto jackpot and everyone would know about it!

its like this id rather have a good system that was very cost effective for example buying the NZXT Tempest or a 4870 over a 280 or 260

benchmarking is just scores that dont mean anything, you should rather want real world performance

the only way to find out what FPS it will get is too have the system and play using it

Benchmark Scores Fast. I don't need epeen.
Nobody can say what FPS you will get, but I can tell you what FPS I get with my setup. With a E4400 @ 3.4GHz, memory @ 1088MHz and a Hybrid 3870 @ stock the average FPS I get is around 45 and a low of arounf 25. Thats with my own custom Crysis hack to enable Very High settings on XP.
