What Has Happened?

Alright, I have been using the same version of CrystalDiskMark, and all of a sudden, my sequential read/writes have jumped tremendously???

This one was taken right after a defrag and a restart, a couple of months back:

Since that time, I have done NOTHING to my computer and I get this:

There has to be something wrong with Windows or something right?

my Pc doesnt work right until i get pissed and hit it. or it knows im incredibly disappointed in its performance and im considering selling it. any of the above sound like you?

Most likely you never turned off Superfetch or indexing and it has caught up.

Yeah, both Superfetch and Indexing are still on.

What did you use to defrag that time for the 1st run?

I have seen some defrag apps make reads and writes slower on vista and widows 7 compared to the OS built in defrag.
Plus after some time super fetch increases performance.

I notice that in the first pic it is using 1000mb file size and in the second pic it is using a 4000mb file size. I get a higher score when choosing a bigger file size as well...

Er, one shot says v2.2, the other v3.0 x64

Anyway, new drivers, other software less busy, etc.

Like robn said they are different version's yet you say you've done nothing to change the system... besides the software?

You're right, I feel stupid :eek:

They are two different versions. But, the newer version must have an entirely different benchmarking algorithm in order for read/writes to be that much different.

I used IOBit SmartDefrag with Deep Optimize to defrag the computer.

If you post a link to both version's I'll give them a try on my HDD's that way we should see if it's down to being 2 totally different version's ie: 32bit + 64bit.

I'll say again, in the pics you are also using two different test file sizes. Tested on my work machine and I also get higher scores when benching with the bigger test file size.
