I want to know some of your opinions about what I should get for my computer. I will be using the computer for streaming video games and doing school work. I want the whole thing (Monitor, Keyboard & Mouse, and Tower) to come to about $300 or under because I do not have a lot of money right now. I will also include some other items that I need for the streaming. If you know something that I should get in place of what I currently want, please say so and post a link.

Well... None of the things you list actually have to do with streaming games or school work. With the case, monitor and kb/mouse you selected you have about a hundred dollars left over for computer components.

I just didn't mention the Elgato or what else do I need to stream other than that and what do you mean when you say "Computer Componets"? And what case?

You haven't actually put up any computer parts :D

The cases you have listed are just that, empty cases. The actual components that make the computer all go into the case.

I take it your in the USA.

Your computer will need.

A motherboard.
A CPU ( processor)
Ram
A hard drive
A PSU (power supply)

A case for it all to go in to.

Then you will need Keys and mouse, and a monitor :D

Your also going to need an operating system like windows.

somthing like this

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7877712&CatId=7747

+ a hard drive http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=160389&CatId=2681

+ monitor http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1717285&Sku=A204-2003

+ keys and mouse http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2827710&CatId=1482

+ operating system http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8130466&CatId=4622

You might need to extend your budget a little or look for some second hand parts. Generally the monitor is a good place to go second hand. Have a look on your local gumtree or whatever you use in your area. Most people I know have a spare monitor somewhere in there houses. If you know any techy types chances are you can get one for nothing. I know I get rid of a fair few old monitors every year because people upgrade and don't want the old one sitting about.

$300 is going to be a hard budget to meet with all of the things you need. Your budget needs to be higher.

Sorry for being stupid, I thought they were actually computers. I think 400 would be the absolute max for everything though. I can sell my Turtle Beaches but I can't access the buy/sell category on here.

How much RAM do I need to stream and do school work? Would 1GB be enough?

Would 1GB be enough?

Not really no. 2GB would be the absolute minimum id go. But I would run 4GB really. memory is cheap.

Just get yourself a dual core AMD Trinity FM2 rig and it should be under $400.

Are you wanting to get a pre built rig, or build your own?

How about this if I buy more RAM?

how about what? No link?

no, just no :p Pentium D are WHORIBBLE CPU's. Im sure someone in the USA can find something that suits your needs with a more current CPU.

Like the Asus rig I posted that has a A8 CPU? :D

Like 20 inches. I like the one I posted in the original post but I want something cheaper to minimize the cost but still looks pretty good. Know anything?

Your first PC is always a mine field of questions.

Firstly I would ask your parents, cousins, aunts and uncles if they know anyone with PC knowledge.

Your looking for PC gamers, or PC builders. It's the friend of the family where PC's go to come back working again.

These people have many things your looking for. Information, skill at building, and more importantly access to older hardware that is just sat about.

Ask on this forum and I bet 80% of the people that use this forum have spare PC parts from old builds or repairs. I know I have several full pc's that while no good for me would be perfect for you. Older sockets 939, AM2, and intel systems that probably only need a case, hard drive and monitor to be a working system.

The trick is to find that person in your family.

The monitor is probably the part that most gamers change the least often. A monitor will last several years, The lifetime of them is expected to be 10 years if your going from new to worn out. So while you will get stung for a monitor for your first build it is not always like that.

Also cases and power supplies tend to migrate across builds. Cases don't tend to break, they get replaced on whims to update the look of the system or allow space for new hardware.

Your mission when you find your PC tech is not to get them to build your PC. This is counter productive. Get that person to show you how to build one, and if they have the spares to build one available make sure you tell them that you need the training. Unless your techy is making money from doing his work with the family then you will generally get your training for free since it takes some of the workload off them in the future, and give them someone to talk to at family functions :D

As for new hardware, this is an enthusiast forum. People here have money invested over time in the PC they use. It makes using a forum like this hard at times, People will tell you to avoid cheaper options, they want to see a PC working at the top of the performance curve. In that respect this forum can be a hard place to use as some posters will give you options that you simply can never afford. Most posters expect that you can build a PC and install an operating system. Getting that training and learning this stuff for yourself is a skill for life. If you can build it and make it run windows then you can use this in the future for yourself and your family, and perhaps even to make some money on the side later in life.

If I buy the ASUS Computer and the HP Monitor, what else do I need?
