I hate that marketing has bought this "2K" term. If 2160p is called 4K*, then how the hell 1440p is called 2K, shouldn't 1080p have that marketing name?

*Yeah I know that the "real" 4K is 4096x2160.

Just my two cents.
total agree with you.

1440p is more like 2.5K. 2K is 2048x1080. 1080p is 1920x1080. The 2K, 4K, 8K, etc. nomenclature indicates that width size is at least 2000, 4000, 8000, etc. pixels wide respectively.

This marketing term was originally suppose to be used for cinematic purposes only by the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) but the term eventually bled out into the whole display industries which I believe has become a mess of a confusing marketing gimmick to the general unassuming consumers.

i shoot in both 4k and 8k.
but most of what where talking about is video games and not videos.
which is different . you can say other wise but it scale different.
I don't play games exclusively in my screen. I also use it for work and 4K allows me to do so much more at one time than say a 1440p screen, as I can have two 1080x2160 windows side by side.
Yes, I use 125% scaling, but that's it.
I could never go back to using a lower resolution screen full time. I still think 27" is plenty fine, at least at distance I sit from my screen.

2K isn't 1440p though, it's 2048 (x1152 for monitors) and as I mentioned, that was a thing, but it was never super popular.

video is different the gaming.
different standard etc.
why keep going after me?
Why do you think I'm after you? I'm just correcting your comment.
And we aren't talking about videos & gaming. We were talking about resolution sizes befitting of screen sizes. That is what I'm commenting to you on.

That being said, if you want 4K on 27 inch... by all means. Its not optimal but certainly visible.

4K @ 24-25 inch now that's bonkers.

Personally I prefer a PPI of anywhere around the 90-110 PPI mark. Higher is generally wasted. Lower is counting pixels. A diagonal that doesn't suit it means neck cramps.

Coincidentally, I made a brief similar comment on another thread regarding pixel density but I'll just copy/paste that one comment here to share.
I suspect this all depends on the panel's proper implementation of pixel density & correct viewing distance. That is why there exist 13 inch 4K monitor as well as a 1080p 85 inch TV or even 50+ inch 480i TV back in the day.
