Hi after formatting I have this, normally my d/ is the dvd writer. There is nothing on the d: drive can I delete it or how can I get rid of it safely.

On a more serious note, thatis probably supposed to be a hidden partition that windows normally creates when it's installing. If you delete it your windows might get corrupted

Look at your disk management. Its probably some left over partition on your drive. Delete it and add the space to you other partition if it will let you otherwise just leave it.

When you format and reinstall delete all the partitions then add the new one, remove all other drives. Then add them back in the order you want the letters.

Give us a screenshot of Disk Management. That will help determine where the D drive is located and what is it for. You definitely don't want to just delete it without knowing what it is first. Worst case, if it is supposed to be just a hidden partition, you can just remove the drive letter and it will stop showing up in Explorer.

I definitely wouldnt just delete it, but if its bothering you, you could go into disk manager and remove the drive letter which would hide it

Reboot to see if it was a bad idea, hopefully all is well.

In the future id recommend against blind deletion

Its just your old windows install boot partition. When you take a drive that was an old systems disk and use it as a secondary drive, delete all the partitions with diskpart

Hi no ill effects and all I have on E: is Steam. Everything was running sweet until my old motherboard died and since doing the new system all these little annoying things have appeared please make this the last I just want to enjoy the upgrade now.
