Hello all,

My current system:
Athlon XP 2500, OC'ed to 2GHZ.
1GB (2x 512 DDR dual Channel) PC3200 RAM (it's crappy A-Byte RAM.)
Radeon 9700PRO AGP8X (softmodded 9500NP and overclocked) with no artifacts
160GB ATA133 Western Digital drive.

The only game I actually care about, at all:
Battlefield 2
Current settings: 800x600 lighting off, all the rest on medium: Framerates average 47-50FPS

I'd like to play at 1280 with all settings on high and maybe some AA and AF at above 50FPS.

I am not ready to do a full upgrade, I'm going to wait for Socket M2 and DDR2/3 to become mainstream.

My budget for this video upgrade: about $250.

I am fully willing to softmod, hardmod, biosflash, change the cooling on the videocard.

WHAT IS MY BEST BET RIGHT NOW?

I would say an nvidia 6800GT or an X800(dunno the prefix, someone will chip in though).
I can say from personal experiance the 6800GT is a great card, I had mine clocked from 350/ 1000 to 430 1100 and got a little over 6K in 3d '05, I read in a few forums here that you can get X800 cards that can flash upto X850 xt or something like that, hopefully someone with knowledge can but in and tell you what you can/ can't do to the X800 range.

Gerry.

X850XT PE or a 6800GT. You may be able to pick up an X850pro VIVO and flash the bios to X850XT PE.
