What is the best current storage solution?

Should we store everything on regular harddrives? Or everything on SSD? Or should we have an SSD for some things and then a regular harddrive for others?

What is the best storage solution for regular home pc users?

Normal drive is still the best route to go for storage. SSD is better for OS a few programs (Allowing faster load times on those programs).

I currently use:
x1 SSD= OS/IDE Software
x2 Non-SSD= Games/Programs/Etc

So the SSD is strictly just for your OS/IDE. So you would route all downloads and etc to your other drives?

Not strictly... You can use a SSD for anything! For the price/size, the regular drive is your best bet. Your not gonna get anything more out of using a SSD vs regular.. other than faster load of whatever is on the SSD. Hence why most people use them for Operating Systems and a few other apps.

SSD 1TB cost ~$2000
Regular 1TB cost ~$100

For storage, just use a regular drive

The reason most people use it for OS is because its expensive per Gb. But if you want to store on it its fine but you still need a back up. And don't use IDE

Some estimates are as long as 10 years. But it depends on how many writes.

Get an SSD for your OS and Games. Yourgames will load up super fast.

My setup.
180GB SSD - OS & PC Games
HD 1TB - Videos/Pictures/Backup etc.

Partitioned the 1TB into 700GB Back-Up and 300GB for a Win 7 x64 Install via Dual Boot.
My partitioned OS install is my primary where as my SSD is my OS for gaming and Benching.

If your SSD is big enough, you can use it for everything.
