You can't really test it the way he stated it though, because you can only change priority after launching it. You can't get it to launch that way.
Anyways OP, seems to me if the game doesn't run well unless you Alt+Tab first, you might have too many background programs, a bad install, or corrupt system files, because that's not normal.
Actually, you can change application priority when you launch it with "start" command. You can use this with command prompt (preferably elevated) or batch file.
For example you want to run notepad.exe with above normal pirority :
start /abovenormal notepad.exe
For priority value you can use : realtime, high, abovenormal, normal, belownormal, low.
Don't want to mess about with command line? Use 3rd party application like Process Lasso.
