I got a rx 580 xfx GTS XXX from aliexpress, and by the time I arrived I wanted to open it to change the thermal pad and thermal pads (the pads only if necessary) but I don't know the original thickness of the fat boy pads. Does anyone have this information or know where I can?

Besides, I was thinking about getting this thermal pad, is it good for me?

(Sorry for my flawed English)

You have to disassemble the heatsink to get at the thermal pads. When you do so, I would renew the thermal paste of the GPU Die too, mostly they use thermal paste for the GPU Die. The thickness I don't know but I would try 1mm pads. If they are too thick it's no prob as you can squeeze them easily.

Most will not do that on a brand new card due to warranty sticker (outside us)

Ask XFX........
Not sure if he will get a satifying answer from the support team, as eidairaman1 said, that's against their warranty policy to remove heatsink.

Edit: You can also measure the factory thermal pads after removing the heatsink.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)

And? Isn't it against everyone's warranty policy to remove the heatsink, isn't it? And I thought that was supposed to be allowed now anyway?

Still, it doesn't hurt to ask... if anyone knows, they will. I've asked other board/card partners this information and received it. Getting it from the horse's mouth is always best. ;)

Ask XFX........

I texted @XFXSupport as @eidairaman1 suggested and got the following answer (I don't know if it's an official profile):

Hello,

I dont know offhand, you may want to make a ticket. Its atleast .2MM, but less than 1mm

I contacted XFX directly and the RMA provider that operates in my country but got no response yet.

Yes, the problem is that I am buying this card by aliexpress, which takes a while (already took 20 days or less, but already had an order that took 3 months or +) to get to my house. and I already wanted to buy the pads together (the ones I mentioned in the initial post, also from aliexpress) to change as soon as I could

;)

So you have a margin from 0.2 to 0.9...I would go for the 1mm, if they are a little too big no problem as you can squeeze them

at the detriment of performance (albeit likely not by much)... but yes. :)

a 1.5mm middle ground maybe a good one? (I found it in an aliexpress ad where a buyer asked about the thickness and another reviewer answered 1-1.5). Also would these thermal pads be good for replacement?

Not too thick, if 1mm is enough then I would not use an 1.5mm pad. 12.5 W/mK is a nice value, so yes I mean they are good pads

I'd check and see if replacing the pads voids the warranty beofre asting manufacturer tech support anything. The route I usually take, if its a popular / performance card, EK will make a water block for it. You can download the instructions (PDF) and they usually unclude the pad thinknesses. FujiPoly might be able to tell you also.

In the states and some (not all) of europe. Don't count on it everywhere.
