What is wrong with my laptop? (xps1330)

Hi, I have a 5-month old dell xps1330. just recently my dell laptop have experienced some problems. it started off by freezing with purple/pink pixel dots filled all over the screen then goes to a black screen and then i have to manually restart it. Then a few times it would go to BSOD (blue screen of death) and then it auto restarts after a few seconds. A day later when I turn on the laptop, after going past login I get stuck on a black screen with the mouse working only and stays that way. A few hours later when I turned it on it'll just be a black screen. So I called dell and they sent a technician who came and replaced the motherboard. I turned on computer and it would go to login, so the technician left because he had two stops left and it was already 9pm (just happened). And then I notice..... it's stuck on the black screen just like before!!! So now I ask for your help/advices/opinions. I will call Dell tomorrow also. Shouldn't have bought from dell 5months ago. Both my xps420 and xps1330 have had their own issues.

You sure its not a driver related issue with the graphics?

i have the latest drivers for graphics card. i even reinstalled and installed it before it started to "black out" on me. and im also sure i had the latest drivers for everything else as well. plus i had those drivers for some time and there was nothing to upgrade.

It could be the battery or it could even be the graphics itself. Since the tech already replaced the motherboard, that possibility has been eliminated. Then again, if its onboard graphics, that too would be eliminated and just leave the power source. Faulty slots are even eliminated.

You might have what happened with me were i got a black screen turned out the screen needed replacing. Get a torch and when ur at the black screen look for normal graphics if ya see em then id say thats what it is. If not then update ur drivers got rid of the bsod that id been having.

the graphics card is integrated w/ mobo so thats crossed out. battery i highly doubt because why would it just black out after login every time? wouldnt it just not work or w/e? the only parts that im still using b4 mobo exchange i believe is cd/dvd burner drive, harddrive, ram, battery, and other small stuff like bluetooth etc etc. im wondering if its the harddrive?

gah if its the screen whata bs laptop. only 5 months old and its in worse conditon than my 3+ yrs old hp laptop that cant even charge!

also my xps420 desktop which i bought around the same time crashes every now and then. i asked the tech what may be the cause and he suggested software or ram. dont know why it would be ram since i do have 3gb 667mhz (*would be 800mhz had dell not screwed me over in an exchange after initial desktop had overheating video card)

It was just a thought man mine was about the same age when it happened i was not a happy chappy i tell ya :/

RMA the whole laptop: dont bother replacing each part that seems broken, because most likely it will make something else break or the whole laptop is faulty.

thanks for all the posts. i finally got it resolved after a 2hr chat with dell. it turned out to be a os related issue (windows vista) so i had to system restore it and all files had to be deleted. bummer but it works now x]
