Sidewinder X6. Good for everything, backlight, throw away the num pad if not needed, still rocking in its third year of service. If it breaks I'll probably get an X4, if it will still be available, I got hooked on typing on this keyboard.

For a couple months now I have been using a Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition. Which is a Mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Blue's. This version of the Blackwidow is the Tenkeyless. I like it, as it leaves more space on my Razer Goliathus Extended mouse pad. Though I believe I will be switching to the Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth.

Bah, I like typing on mine.

My friends keep trying to get me to try mechanical and I have been resistant.
I have gotten accustomed to the short throw of the lycosa and am not sure I would like the deeper mechanical feel.
That and the entry price is a bit steep. I run with a G9X and I understand the difference a nice mouse can make but spending $100+ for a keyboard?
I also like backlit which increases the price and I find the entry price hard to justify despite owning many other expensive components like my ZR30w ....

I use Corsair K70 red switch. Love it. The contoured keys are a very nice touch for FPS gaming. Gotta try for yourself.

Steelseries 6G V2 w/ MX Black switches on my main Windows machine, Coolermaster Quickfire Rapid with MX Blue switches for my Linux machine.
Also have a wireless membrane keyboard for my htpc.
Grew up with loud, clicky keyboards so these are awesome for me. A keyboard doesn't need to be mechanical to be a gaming keyboard, it's all about personal comfort and familiarity.

+1 Bought mine for $85 couple of years ago. cant seem to find another. Great everyday use keyboard....confiscated by the wifey along with my older rig.

I use a Saitek Eclipse II, and have for 5 years. It feels good, the keys have the right resistance, and don't make too much noise, and it is gently illuminated. I have no idea if it's a "gaming" keyboard, but it's what I like to game with.

We're curious, what kind of keyboard do you use (classified by switches), and whether you think a keyboard has to have mechanical switches to qualify as a "gaming keyboard."

I use a Rosewill RK-9000I (MX Blues, ftw!) that I got a few weeks ago on black Friday special. Before that I had a Razer Blackwidow (destroyed by errant Mountain Dew). I've also got some cheap Logitech K120 membrane keyboards around the house.

About 'gaming keyboard' though, I really don't think key switches has anything to do with what makes a keyboard 'gaming.' In my case, what I love most about the RK-9000I is that it is not 'gaming.' Just a plain old IBM style 104-key layout. The Blackwidow had an annoying row of macro keys that I didn't realize would get on my nerves when gaming till after I had it for a few months. I also can't stand it when the go appropriating the right Windows key for some kind of function button. With dual monitors, I use that key to Win+Shift+arrow windows around one-handed.

In any case, I like non-gaming mechanical keyboards ...for gaming. lol

I removed those contoured keys after a few days of usage. They're very odd when you do anything else than playing FPS games. I couldn't type for shit with these on. But yeah its a nice touch nevertheless.

I use a Corsair K70 MX Blue and I love it, especially the Blue switches and individual media keys. My gripe with the keyboard itself is that there are 2 LEDs dead, the ones on letter 'E' and 'Y'

I have to hammer the fuck out of the keys to get it to type and I wanna take an actual hammer to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was so easy to type on before and now it's like whaaaaaaack!!!!

Anyone here wanna donate a better keyboard?

Assuming it is a 105-key ISO lay-out you got (with AltGR and a € sign on 5), you could look up the Italian lay-out on the internet and start putting the keycaps in the "right" position after you carefully removed them from the board. Do not forget to choose the IT lay-out in your OS afterwards!

Dude new keyboards are like $10 and you can find used ones for like a dollar or free. Go to your local dump and pick one up lol
