What monitor connection do you use?

DisplayPort. It's the next-generation interface, has packetized data allowing the port to be used for audio, and now Thunderbolt. It has (from Wikipedia) a 17.28 Gbit/sec throughput, vs Dual-Link DVI's 9.9. And as mentioned above, the connector is well-designed.

Displayport.
The only cable that allows my monitor to output 120Hz at 1920x1080.

I use DVI mainly, VGA occasionally. I would use DP if I had a supportive monitor. I've only ever had problems with HDMI and I think it's a crappy standard anyway so I stay away from it.

For the first time ever I have taken the leap. I have now connected using the HDMI Cable. I find it clearer to start, I love the low profile and ease of use this cable really it! I wounder why I never did this before! Notice the low profile connection on the back of the MB. How Sweet is THAT!? :rockout:

i use HDMI daily, and never once had a cable come out on me.

and by daily, i mean my laptop spends most of its time connected to my HDTV, so i'm removing and reconnecting that plug quite often.

I tell you what, I will be the judge of this. I have mine hooked up in the RV so the test will begin now. The monitor is connected to the bedroom wall, RV will be going on a cross-country RUN! I plane to hit all the states on an adventure soon! Will see just how well it holds up.

a simple test would be to gently tug the cable and see what happens. i find it takes more pressure to remove than an un-screwed VGA or DVI cable.

(mostly because of its odd shape - if the cable is pulled up/down instead of straight out, it has more resistance and wont budge easily)
