My 680i SLI is stable, but remember i don't OC. I hear they can't OC quads for crap.

If you get a P45 get the Asus P5Q Pro or Deluxe or one of the MSI P45 boards, they are good oc boards for a decent price.

i was wondering why yuou had a p5Q instead of keeping the 780i...learned my lesson...this thing cant take 8GB of ram at all the NB is like OMFG HALP!!!! oooo please halp...and then the rig gets all unstable shits a kitten then runs away..spent 2 hours trying to find my rig today do you know how worried you get when $3k worth of parts is just walking around town?

is the p45 a better overclocker than a p35, because the only difference I see between a p35 is the PCI E 2.0 and some ICH10 thing

A1's oc quads well but this 780i hates me...i cant oc past 4Ghz anymore with more than 2GB of ram in...i loosen the timings from 5-4-4-12 2T to 5-5-5-15/18 2T and i can get some more....with 8 gigs in...but with 8 gigs in i can only oc to 4Ghz and i cant oc my ram at all or it gets all unstable...and i dont have the voltage to give to my NB fsb...it maxes at 1.4v...weak..

That varies depending on the person.

But, The Asus P5Q Pro has been a very popular P45 board among the OCers and is known to be rock solid.

There are also some Gigabyte boards you may like, i hear most of them are stable and are to popular among OCers.

This one is cheap and is a P45 chipset, but keep in mind it only has one PCI Express slot.

Your going to have many MANY different answers to this. I am quite fond of DFI and Abit, but Abit doesn't make motherboards any longer. I'd say go with an Asus P5Q Pro or a Biostar I45.

vtt/pll is pretty low to you could always hardmod it

i think im going to do a pot mod and reaise the F@#$ out of the volts....but first im going to try and flash it to a FTW bios to see if i unlock the PLL voltage options etc.

go for it i went screw this shit and got 400mhz more outta my celeron and i for sure would never have hit 3.88ghz on my 440

pci 2.0 is here to stay all cards new that are made now and in the future for the next couple years or so i would imagine will support 2.0 until 3.0 is out....the p45 has more options as the board has better/more parts so the bios gives you more controll over them.

GTX 260 will last a long while for gaming, if you are a benchmarker then probably not for to long.

If you don't care for trying to get the highest score in 3DMark, then yes for gaming it is more then capable and will be for some years to come.

As for OCing i think it really depends on the board, but the P45's have proven themselfs to be great OCer's, but doesn't mean the P35's can't keep up.

P45's handle higher FSB's then the P35s, as well as have higher FSB's from the start.
Some boards also offer an 8-phase and 16-phase power design. (just overall better overclocking potential)

In the early days it was bigger. i think they're pretty close now. On 45nm chips, i've heard of my board doing 550 FSB, and i've heard of 500+ on P45.

msi p7n lol have to reccomend a 750i, and i think that this is the best one... you can get an open box for $99 and you can run SLI. OCability is not an issue for you, you have a 9x multi... unless you plan on 4GHz 24/7 on air i think you'll be fine with either p35 or p45... but go for sli, those 216 will be cheap soon and you can get a monster gaming rig later on for cheap by adding another 260... p45 only if you have a 4870
