my m8 has the ASUS P5GD1-FM and he wants to upgrade the RAM to 2x 1GB but hes unsure of which RAM would be compatible because the motherboard manual says:

"This motherboard does not support memory modules made up of 128mb chips or double sided x16 memory modules"

If any of you could find some thats a good price and based in the UK he would be very grateful, thanks in advance :D

http://www.crucial.com/uk/ do top notch memory, their prices aren't that high due to distributing themselves and they deliver to the UK, very, very fast in past experience. It doesn't seem to list your exact model but P5GD1 or P5GD1-VM will probably work with the same stuff, check the ASUS site or contact crucial directly if you want to confirm but returning memory has always been easy in my opinion.

Buy the top ballistix stuff and you even get a sparkly lifetime warranty and guaranteed to 500DDR if he might ever overclock :)
