What recovery/undelete program do you get best results out of?

currently i have tried

Recurva

and got okey results

and will try Puran File Recovery later

Just turn on Volume Shadow copies for the specific drive/directory you want version-ing for. If you want something offsite, that's a bit different.

Download Parted Magic live CD, boot it, and run PhotoRec. By far the best recovery program. That thing recovers things you deleted aeons ago.

If you're recovering data, clone the drive and salvage files from it to an external drive.

NEVER recover files to the same drive because it'll overwrite old data you're trying to save. Cloning i srecommended if you fuck something up you restore the image and try again.

Otherwise, I usually use Recuva. It's free and does the job done.

Just tested new version of Active@ undelete and got some good results. Really nice program

file scavenger hands down but its not free. I quick formatted a partition and it was able to recover everything. It will automatically select the latest data record to recover from.
