I have around $60 to spend for fun, but I still want to make it useful. Is there anything I could buy for my computer that would help it in any way besides a game (Oblivion/DM)? I spent a lot of money on TaeKwonDo uniforms, and this is the little that I have left, so what should I buy?

Eh...nice, but I have a media reader on my Media Center comp, and my SoundBlaster 24 Bit Live! is fine for me, since I use headphones, I don't think another sound card will help.

Anything else? I might just get Oblivion.

How much could I get an X800XL for? My uncle is building a comp, and I can sell it to him for $...;) Maybe a 7600GT? For future SLI?

Is it possible for me to post to see how much people are willing to buy for an XL, and hopefully $50 is enough for an X850XT or 7600GT.

Maybe $70 for it? W/ a VF700-Cu?

new x800xl cards sell for between 90 (open box) - 125 as a rough average price, so depending how well yours clocks and taking into consideration 3rd party cooling...id say $100 for it is a fair-ish price.

Really? It clocks to 444Mhz (Core) and 544Mhz (Memory), but that's with EMT, so it get's slightly lower memory clock, but higher score because of EMT. About 5900 w/ an Athlon 64 @ 2.6Ghz.

EMT timings actually do very little, if not worsen performance. i tried all manner of EMT combinations but std. timings always gave best oc results and scores (i got about 5950 in 3dm05 @ 432\1.15GHz) judging from how it clocks, id say bung the stock cooler back on it and keep the vf700 for your new card and 75-80 is a pretty fair deal.

What were your settings? It increases for me though. But mines not the tightest yet...so I can tighten them and get an extra 50 or so too.

Anyways, should I sell an XL for a better card? But no Oblivion...:(

Ok, I'll ask my uncle if he still wants me to build him a comp, and if so, I'll give him my X800XL.

yeah sell the x800xl get an x850xt(120 on newegg) or x1600xt OR scrape more togather and get a x1800gto2 (underclocked xt, exect same card, just flashed to slower clocked bios, even has same pipes as the xt)

x850xt pr
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102052

x1650pro(same clocks as the 1600xt just newer core revision kinda like the x1950 cards)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814161026
these perform far better then you would expect, my buddys his x1600xt was very close to my x800xt pe in most games at 1280x1024. also it can support sm3 and hdr+AA in games like farcry
this is the iceq version from his so its silent cooling and VERY overclockable.

195 for an x1800gt0
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814142067
good cards, overclock very well, specly if u change the cooling to a zalman vf900 when u get more $ ;)

199 for an x1900gt
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814161029
this is a GREAT BUY, its the new x1950xtx core with 4 pipes/12 shaders dissabled, from all reports on forums these clock incredibly even on stock cooling, with 3rd party cooling they in many cases can stand toe to toe with the x1900xt 256mb in benches........

where i u i would look at finding a way to get the extra and just grab the 1900gt listed, that new core is kickin, and you wont belive how much faster it is then the x800xl/xt you are use to, i was shocked at how much better my 1900xt was compared to my x800xt pe, its just insain :D

Leaning more towards X850XT PE ($119.99) or 7600GT (For future SLI)...not sure.

if you have sli, maybe go for a 7600gs sli setup (if that rebate at newegg is still going on, they are about 63 each)

Nah, I would rather get a better single card, and go SLI in the future, since I'll have to contact DFI for a bridge. Unless you're not gonna use yours.

well the x850xt is a good card, but IMHO the extra for an x1800 or 1900 is well worth it, you will be getting 7600gt sli perf or better out of the x1900gt i listed oh and was just talking to a buddy who works for intel test labs they have 2 of that card, the stock cooler is FAR better then the orignal gt coolers, it combine with the new core allow for VERY good overclocks on stock cooling......honestly if u can find a way to make enough for the diffrance that cards a great buy, would last you a couple years at least :)

But what if I didn't have the money, what would you go for, X850XT, but will have to stay single card, OR 7600GT, and go SLI in the future?

x850xt, but personaly i would just do all i could to get the extra few bucks for the 1900, selling extra parts i have, selling extra junk i have, mow a few lawens whatever it took(yes even at my age i mow lawens for extra cash ever so offten, love having elderly ppl living close :p )

you could mow a few lawens or do some yard work for a few old people and make enought to buy the new gen card, i made 45bucks in 1 day mowing 2 lawens and edging a yard, covered my getting a better cpu cooler when my stock ones fan died(my fault, dont ask)

that or sell ur services, if ur building him a pc then offer to do the work for the extra caust of the card/device you want, my uncle doug is a stingy fook but he was even willing to order me extra parts when i upgraded his system for him, corse he got alot of my old parts from another system i had(my backup at the time)

but yeah the x850xt or if u can find the rare x1650pro or x1600xt agp versions they are a great choice as well for the price, plenty of power for mid range gaming.
