After my Presonus eris 3.5 died I spend a bit more. I wanted to have something with a horizontal line from ~5Hz to 30kHz.

As my low quality mainboard from ASUS caused me some sort of headache - I found the culprit. The ASUS Prime X670-P Mainboard sound output is trash. Most likely an issue with the 50Hz from the power grid.

I went for a second hand USB soundcard, which is called usb audio interface, from m-audio the AIR 192|6.
Works very well in gnu gentoo linux and windows 11 pro.

Money well spend. The speakers were bought only because of the technical specifications from the seller thomann.de / The audio interface was bought the cheapest but not most biggest garbage available in 70km Radius where I live. Later I saw the seller was using most likely apple computers. With apple computers that usb audio interface seems to had some issues.

A mishmash of old ebay bought garbage and stuff off Amazon.

(AVR) Yamaha RX-573 (from ebay) - I think this cost me £100
4x JBL Control One bookshelf speakers (also from ebay...) £60-80 a 'set' so £130-160 total??
Auna - Line 300 CN center speaker (cheap tat off amazon) - I think this was £30-40 but bought new. definitely better speakers out there but it works for me.
Wharfedale Diamond SW150 Subwoofer (also off amazon) - Cant remember how much this cost at the time I think it was £150 give or take.
Random 50m of 18AWG speaker cables off amazon for £18.95 in 2015.

I wish there was a smaller more compact AVR I could replace the RX-573 with that didnt cost the moon. Ideally.... ~~Maybe like the RX-V4A but thats well above what Im prepared to pay.~~

Just checked the dimensions of the V4A - its roughly the same as the 573 so there aint much point going down that route

I remember back in 2015. I wanted to do away with my soundcard and have a good audio setup for movies. Not that my Logi Z5500 I was running before this was bad in anyway. I think I was running it via an SB-Z or X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty via TOS Link and making use of creatives DDL. I dont regret upgrading to the AVR for a second. Movies sound so much better with it but the unit itself does take up a hell of a lot of space! I have considered downsizing to more compact 2.1 setup quite a few times because of this.

A soundbar called Aurasound RDB-D421, which was gifted to me. I think it was something a local shop was carrying for a very short while, because I can't find anything about it online. Wireless bass amp, which works great. It sounds quite good actually, much better than the JBL SB350 I also have.

I had a 4.1 model of those, but they eventually completely died. Thief 2 was incredible with them..

I'll be gutted when these die, but I think I could probably recap the amp if needed. The wired controller was always the weak spot. I converted mine so the power switch is now separate to the 2 pots, and added a blue LED. I Completely removed the PCB and replaced it with a wire ball in a cheap enclosure.

Recently swapped to KEF Q150's, from 30 year-old B&W 601 S1's that I bought new. Dropped the AVR a few years ago in favor of a Topping DX3 & Aiyama A07. Cut power consumption by about 90%, and I no longer need all the extra stuff an AVR does.

Sub is a sealed 8" DIY kit.

Really wanted to try out the Kali LP-UNF's or IN-5's but it seems like there's way too much that can go wrong with tri-amped active speakers, especially with just one year warranty.

once used bose, then edifier, then found out it was to much trouble (speaker stands, need shielded speakers etc takes up alot of space on desk) so bought a wireless headset For my PS5, but using
that that is a pain on my PC, use using headphones, the b&w p7’s…

Currently Logitech Z906 5.1 cause when my old Logitech started to fail there was nearly no 5.1 sets being sold anymore. only around 2 and other one was very low end weaker then my old set and cheap.
