Ok we can complain about Vram usage but like a game that looks worse than Mordor and brings a GPU like the 4090 to it's knee's is abnormal.

The game looks like garbage as well both visually and from a gameplay standpoint.

People give TLOU, Hogwarts, Jedi survivor crap for not running the best but all three look miles better than this.

At this moment, it feels like it's just a crap show one after another.

Are developers now competing on who can release the most crappy optimized game while also the ugliest in this case.

2023 has not been an all good year for game releases. Reminds me of the 2010 and a few years from there. There where also crap port from console to pc.

So if this continues. I will say this. Shut up developers, I'm keeping my money in my wallet.

And yes, you need to send the publishers a memo this is not ok, by not buying.

Daedalic Entertainment is a point and click game developer and even though they are trying to pass this off as AAA it is nowhere near the budget or scope of one.

They are German so maybe @GerKNG can roll up to their offices and be like WTF in German....

Gamers suck. Especially PC gamers tolerate too many sh!tty releases. I really wish the video game industry would grow up but a large percentage of the consumer audience simply doesn't want to be treated like adults.

A handful of people care including some folks in Kyoto, Japan.

To put things in perspective:

Lord of the Rings Gollum:

Guess which game has a better chance walking away with Game Of The Year awards?

And the latter runs well on $300 potato console hardware that was underpowered at launch in 2017, six years ago. It's all about gameplay not graphics. Throw your 4090s and 7900s at any AAA PC title but lil' ol' Switch destroys them all in terms of player satisfaction.

UE4 allows many developers to put together a project without previously having much experience designing that kind of title or with that engine.
What you are observing is a side effect of Epic's dominance on the market for game development tools.
For every UE game that was developed with the necessary know-how and attention to detail you'll get a dozen built in "default mode".

Same with Unity. This isn't really a skill problem or even engine problem though, it's a development timeframe one. I've explained it before, but I lay every bit of the blame on the publishers.

Doing it any sooner is just rewarding the publishers (and yes even some developers) for bad behavior.

IMO, most games are too expensive when they launch. It's better to put them on your wishlist, keep playing one of your several hundred other games, and buy them later on discount. But each to their own.
