These prices are just delusional. In Finland the prices start at 1050€ and converting that to dollars 1384$.

Thats because its a new product and from what I gather there wont be that many made.

Prices are always high when new hardware is released. Its to take advantage of those enthusiasts/consumers that must have it at any cost because they want to be the first people to have it.

Prices will possibly drop after all the kerfuffle and hoohaa about it being the fastest most bombastic badass gpu in the world

This price sounds like a desperate move from nVidia. I'm thinking, how about the next generation 7xx card? If the GTX 780 will be even faster than the titan, what price it will have?? Seriously.

At most just slightly more expensive than current gen, falling as time passes. Otherwise people will just buy this gen's graphics card

They're also setting expectations pretty high. Maxwell better be at least twice as fast at the same power usage. ;)

I thought I saw rumours that nvidia may be releasing a GTX 780, which would be a cut down Titan?

Uhhh.. Don't buy it bros!

Nvidia is obviously testing the waters to see if they can pull off an "Extreme Edition" play in the graphics space. The more people who buy this thing, the more they're likely to conclude that the market does see a $1000 graphic part as acceptable and this will become the new price point for their top-end card for generations to come.

It won't be, they surely planned this Titan launch all along by keeping it above every other SKU they have or will have.

GTX 780 will probably be a cut down GK110 or GK114.

Statistically nobody will buy it. Even if they make a 100,000 pieces run and sell them all that's not even 0.1% of nVidia's quarterly shipping figures. This launch is just for show and PR.

Well, a cut down Titan is GTX 680...I always thought the future generations are at least 50% more competitive than the previews ones...

Depending that I could use this for Sketchup (which my 680 is stuttering to run), CAD, 3ds Max (Mental ray) gpu accelerated 3d rendering; I might actually consider buying this for a price range of $700-$850.

the lineup should've been more like this
gk110(titan) = gtx680 at 550$
gk110 with 13smx = gtx670 at 450 dollars
gk104 (current gtx680) = gtx 660ti at 350$
gk104 with 7 smx = gtx660 at 300
gk104 with 7smx and 192bit = gtx 660 special edition at 250$
gk106 (current gtx660) =gtx 650ti at 150$
gk106 with 4smx or 128bit = gts650 at 100$
gk107 = gt640 and below

this would put the 7970ghz in the 350-400$ mark similar to how 6970 was selling for

now this all wouldve been possible if 28nm wasnt as expensive as it is, but maybe on the next round of 28nm parts as it would be older tech and tsmc would lower prices
and the choice nvidia made by starting with the smaller chip is to avoid another fermi like dilemma were they were selling a 550mm2 die on a new process for 350 and less(i remember my friend picking up gtx 470 for 220$) not to mention how bad the yield was for these big chips

Oh dear goodness. Overclockers UK is at it again.

Titan started in pre-order at £839 (two models, Asus, Gigabyte).
Then they added a custom water blocked (and I enquire about ETA) at £929.
When the water block version appeared the vanilla Titans went up to £859.
Having enquired yesterday and getting a reply from OcUK about unknown ETA, the water block version is now at £989 and the vanilla ones are at £899.

Nice price hikes there OcUK, well done, my wallet's going elsewhere (yes - I'm getting a Titan, if i can get it underwater).

In comparison Ebuyer has had them static at £827 on pre-order (5 models).
Scan is at about £859- no wait, they metaphorically have just jumped through the roof. Now Scan has vanilla cards at >£900 Good god.

So sad to see such price gouging on Euro customers, Australian too.

UK Pricing update

Just thought I'd post an update on the UK pricing at 3 major online retailers.

The worst part is that OcUK sold 7+ Gigabyte cards at £959 when Ebuyer had them at £830. I cannot understand anybody who doesn't look around when spending such vast amounts. I'm a ball hair away from buying a card.......

OcUK top right, Scan bottom left, Ebuyer bottom right. I seriously hope UK folk look at this and tell the price gougers to f*ck off. A £130 price difference on the same available card between OcUK and Ebuyer. That my friends is bad pricing. :shadedshu

Same here in Italy, some retailers just sell them at 1050+ Eur while I found mine for 830 Eur which isn't too bad.

Overclockers despite price gouging had a good batch of Gigabyte TITAN's @ £959.99 inc VAT.

All sold, these things will sell, end of.

That makes no sense at all, if i can get the same performance using 2 cards at a third of the price of a single card why the hell wouldn't you go with the 2 cheaper cards?

It all comes down to price/performance no matter what combination you use to get it, period!!

Single GPU is totally different from dual GPU, dual GPU has to rely on AFR rendering, which is the plague, it adds latency, uneven frame rendering etc.

The experience you'll have from a high performing single GPU is never comparable to a CFX/SLI solution.

I'll take the Titan any day over a GTX 680 SLI or 7970 CFX.

This comes from years and years of experience with multi GPU setups, let me add that if I really had to choose I'd pick NVIDIA SLI. CFX is just bad atm.
