I'd rather use Xbox as it has better battery life.

What is battery life for DS4

I don't like the xbox joystick because of the button layout

I play with DS3 controller on PC. Works perfectly fine. Wouldn't mind having DS4v2, but too expensive for just joystick

Xbox gamepad works better for the PC. Even comes with a wireless USB adapter.

DS4 works fine. Games that have native support obv work out of the box with PS inputs/UI etc, those that dont require emulation. Steam has built emulation you can enable to get it working as xinput, or outside of steam via DS4Windows. I use DS4 on more or less every non shooter game I play and I've never had an issue getting it to work. (last 2 games i played on pc for example, Ori and will of the wisps on MS Store I used DS4Windows, and FFXV on steam worked out of the box without any steam emulation required as the game supports it natively and with PS UI)

On emulators (such as cemu) you can even get it to work with gyro support for games that can utilize that.

Not sure with the xbone pad arguments tho, he's not asking which should he pick.
But to answer that not asked question, I like it much more than the xbox pad.

Switch Pro is the only one better due to build quality (both ms and sony controlers are subpar in that regard)

I have both Xbox and DS4 and they both work well. I prefer the XboxOne controller, as it works natively in Forza 7 (from MSstore) and is just bigger for my hands. Still, I actually see the DS4’s rechargeable battery as an advantage, as with XBox you have to invest in a rechargeable battery or keep blowing through AAs. I like the convenience of just plugging in the DS4 to charge it.

IMHO, investing in eneloops is much better than relying on 1300 mAh built in battery.

Solid choice. I prefer the Steam Controller for PC gaming. Though I've used DS4 and my Xbox One controller as well. What's great is you have options.
