I want to buy a 4850 but i'm not sure wich model will overclock best and my choices are this :
1. gigabyte with zalman 512 or 1 gb but the ones that come overclocked to 700 GPU seems they overclock better that the ones at 625 from 1 review i saw on guru3d
2.gainward the 512 or 1gb again the ones that come overclocked to 700 mhz
3.HIS are very good overclocker from what i read on forums but again luck comes into place and some couldn't get past 690 gpu, so , really poor and the HIS cards have premium prices.
4.palit sonic , gecube ...etc. could be considered but not my first choices.
Gigabyte seems to have the best contruction of the card but i don't know ,so WHAT CARD SHOULD I GET THAT WILL OVERCLOCK AT LEAST 750 gpu or even more without tempering with voltmod , maybe a bios but i would pass if it can be passed ?
I will eventually get a "it's a luck thing" but please spare me of that , there are models that are better built and some come 700mhz gpu overcloked so they must be chery picked because some 4850 don't get that far , considering this i will take luck in mind before buying a video card.
Excuse my english not my native language.

My Sapphire 4850 Toxic o/c's to 700 without a problem. Comes with Zalman cooler installed, but I'd recommend replacing the memory chip coolers with something better. Also, the fixed fan speed is a bit of a pain, but can be sorted out.

Sapphire is a well respected brand as well. I don't really know the Gigabyte, as they are way too expensive where I am.

I had a sapphire and it was great overclocker (x800gto fireblade ) but in my area sapphire is very very expensive compared to other brands and the toxic version is very close to 4870.
Even referance versions from sapphire have strange high prices and i avoid them because of that.
To convert it to euro it's 200 euro's and in dollars 267 $.
Now the gigabyte version or gainward they are about 157 euro this are the ones that come with 1gb memory and clocked to 700 mhz and the gigabyte 512mb with zalman is 142 euro.
Still a very good card with probably the best cooler of them all 4850 that are out there but it's kind of expensive and it's not worth it for me unlles it was 150-160 euros like the other brands.

Its just the normal referance one,it is watercooled though, but it was still ok at 730/1150 with an arctic S1 R2 on it.

The bios is modded so it supllies 1.158vgpu in high 3d mode.

I have two of the Gecubes when they were first released. Still stock Bios! All I have done is changed the coolers to the Zalman 900 and I run 700/1150 no problems.

So the deal with this cards (4850 ) is 700 is no problem and if can't be done with original bios a mod ( bios mod ) should get the card too at least 700.
For my peace of mind i will get e version that has a better cooler and comes overclocked to 700 mhz but still unsure what brand should i choose.
I read that gainward has 3 phase power and gigabyte 5 phase power , this is important in MB's for overclocking so they must be of some good in video cards for a stable power supply to the GPU.
The reference one i don't know in how many phases is the power but some overclock very good and some very bad it's still luck at this point.
Only one video card i heard it goes for sure 750+ and is from HIS the turbo x or somethign like this with iceq4 cooling but it's damn expensive like sapphire even the reference ones have strange high prices.
