I think some tech website reviewed a load of them and found that the worst was only like 10 degrees above the best. just get the cheapest.

MX-2 is definitely better, but i hear Arctic silver 5 is also a great thermal paste.

I actually got a bad batch of MX-2 2 months it failed i reapplied and it's failed already- I'm using AS5 now but seriously looking for something as good as MX-2 without the failures, trust me I know they would replace it But 2 fails = no more for me ever...Bad batch or not...I'll never trust MX-2 again... and it's a sudden failure to...thought maybe it was just my cooler unseating so I replaced it....just to have it fail again....I really hate the alarm sound of my TCP...and i really don't want to hear it again...It scares the shit out of you...
I'm not trying to diss MX-2 as I'm sure I just got a bad batch, and I'm sure it's not likely to happen again but i'm not gonna give it a chance to

If you check the reviews, all of the better TIM's are within 1-3c of each other, so there really is not much difference b/t them. I do suggest that you buy something non-conductive. That's the only knock against AS5. The only other thing to consider is consistency. That's why I use MX2 and the higher end Noctua stuff. I like the way it spreads.

tx3 is good but there is alot of variability between the results.... makes me think that the quality control if off.

$20 for 2 applications and a 2.5c max drop. Meh. Maybe if it was at least 5 applications. Sometimes I switch out my processors and reapply TIM as often as I change underwear. I would simply go broke buying TIM.

I use Shin-Etsu X23-7783D, but it's a lot more of a pain to use than MX-2. Better temps, but it's thick like clay, so you have to work with it sometimes. Spreading it with a credit card doesn't work because it likes to stick to itself and not anything else. I used a baggie and my finger. Didn't help that I was applying it to a HDT cooler either. Seems like it worked well, though

I've been using that paste for the past few months. I like it more than MX2 and OCZ Freeze, gets the same temps, but it's easier to spread and works great.
