What's the difference in 'Extreme' Processors?

I think 'throwing money away' is a bit "Extreme" for buying an Extreme processor with a value of $1,500 in the past.

I just don't have enough cash to upgrade for now so I'm upgrading what I currently have right now. Maybe I'll upgrade when Ivy Bridge-E HEDT is released.

save up a little and get a LGA1155 like a 2500k with a z68 or if you can find them you can pick up a high end p67 for pretty cheap now. DDR3 memory is cheap as chips nowadays too. I think you would still be looking at around $450 to $600 doing this though.

my 1155 sandy bridge upgrade cost me about $430 initially, and after selling my mobo and CPU, and giving away my RAM, the upgrade cost me around $150.

well back on topic, Chapper, IF you can get that cpu for say $200 or less it is worth it and will last you a good year or so but not much longer. personally I would stay with the quad you have and save up to get a nice rig. its far more budget smart that way.
