What's the hottest GPU temps you've had?

Stock 4870 overclocked with the reference cooler. Loud as a jet turbine and 95 degrees C plus! Good times.
Since then I've been trying to keep things both cooler and quieter.

That 4870 worked wonderfully as a space heater.

95c or so on a 4850 forgot the fan at 30% .

sapphire 4850 on stock cooling 114ºC fan@100%
bought accelero s1 with turbo module and cool down to 60ºC
after that it was crunching f@h gpu client for 4 months 24/7 then it died.

Yeah, the 4850 reference that I had idled at around 75° and would reach the high 90's on load.

I guess it happens more often than I thought. I get nevous when my temps get around 80°.

i cant speak for stock as i put zf1000s on my 4850s the day i bought them. low 60s iirc. My current 6870 hits 60c on a bad day

on my old 8800 I noticed the system was too quiet and i checked the temps then i once noticed the temps were over 125C on the gpu but they didn't move, the thermal sensor stopped working after that point so it was higher than that, I shut down . . . . . . prayed . . . . . . . no reboot . . . . . . . . .card got murdered.

I have never had any problem with a 6850 my brother has them and they hover around at about 82C on load.

93c i put the fan on 30%, for some silent computing, after a hour i decided to do some gaming and after 30min i though why is ny rig so silent? I did alt+tab to background and msi afterburner reported 93c

last time my 9600GT goes to 143C
because I forgot to plug the fan,
when gaming i smell something like burning, and then I check my GPUZ it shows 143C

I immediately shuts the computer down, open up the case and the heat can be felt from outside..
I turn on a desk fan to the case to help the GPU to cool down,
when it was cool enough, I take out the GPU and check for damage,
and luckily no damage is seen, and I try to plug it in again, with the fan plugged.

now it never reached 70C in game, I must be so lucky back then

I hope the industry switches back to software rendering because ive never had a cpu fry from running too hot.

If your cpu is running too hot ur pc will just shut off.

If your gpu is running too hot the pc wont shut down but the gpu will fry.

This is proof hardware rendering sucks balls compared to software rendering.

95 on my old 3870 xfire setup ,untill i gheto'd a 220 fan into the side, still got that eagle (sh##er) case going strong in eagle hammer thrust pc , my cards dont go above 52 ever now..

and i once missfitted a cpu HSF that chip survived an alleged 165 degrees and the shit didnt shut down till i pulled the plug, still works(tho in mums pc)

It's also interesting to note that there is no such thing as pure "software" or pure "hardware" rendering. Both things the OP is referring to use software and hardware.

95C, and then I realised CCC had somehow locked the fan speed to 27%. Unlocked it with MSI AB and suddenly the fan speed went up to 75%, dropping the temps down veerrrry fast.

had a 4870 that did 105 core and 118 vrm if I let it get that hot

On older cards like the 2900XT about 97c then the driver would restart and the 4890 only reached about 80c but the vrms would get about 100c.

Now with my current 6970 i think 45-55c all though one senser says about 25c higher :| and yes thought about re-seating it and for the vrms on it around 40-50c all under load.

I had a EVGA GTX 570 go to 103C before it crashed everytime. I ended up returning that card to get another one and guess what, never gets higher than 79C
