I don't know why reviewers do that. 4K is still only a little over 2% adoption rate according to the Steam Hardware Survey. A few sites are already putting up articles about 8K. That has the same number of pixels as 16 1080p monitors.

Same reason RT gets hype. The industry is a giant push for sales and the way to do so, is create new demand and selling points.

Reviewers, most of them, eagerly jump on the bandwagon because that is how you get views and hardware. More bigger better has been the driver for all of this since forever. Then a year later everyone concludes it was all useless, shrugs off buyer remorse and moves on.

Lets face it, for all those big strides in graphics, all we do is still mostly respawn, pick up gun and click mouse to shoot. Or build base, get warriors, destroy base. And we still arent bored

I have a 27" 1080p 240hz monitor. I aim to run at 100+++fps with gsync on and use downsampling on top when I have extra performance. The monitor is amazing. Racing games at 240fps is just mind blowing coming from 60fps. I also have an LG OLED and projector hooked up to the pc but haven't used them since getting the new monitor

2560x1440 144Hz. Sweet spot for me, even if it cuts down on the amount of newest games I can play with current GPU. Massive improvement in general desktop usage over 1080p.

I upgraded to a 32" 1440p 144Hz monitor in January and I'm loving it. My 27" Samsung curved 1080p has been relegated to the workshop, but still looks great.
Mind you, it's all a lot nicer than the Asus 21" monitor which I was using about ten years ago

1440p 75+ seems like its new 1080p 75+ as even medium end cards can run it pretty solidly as long as you don't need high end.

2560x1600 is a perfect fit for 30", not 35".

Haven't seen that many monitors with this resolution and more importantly I've run out of options as XenForo allows to have only ten of them. Would be great if you increased the limit to at least 20 and then added them to the poll - I can longer edit it. And then there are vanishly rare solutions like 1920x1200 or 1600x1200.

Medium end cards right now cost an arm and a leg :-( I have a GTX 1660 Ti and it struggles with 1440p. :-( I guess something like an RTX 3060 Ti/RTX 2080 is required as a bare minimum to run this resolution at steady 60Hz for all games and near maximum quality settings.

I'm currently using a cheap 3440x1440 @100hz VA panel and I love. But its so slow. I have a Samsung SA27 1080p 120hz TN panel (I bought when 3d was the thing) that I game on from time to time and my god it feels better.

Eveythings smooth, crisp and fast on the TN panel and as a kicker - I realized I was gaming on it at 60hz because I used the wrong HDMI cable.

I love my UW because of the screen real estate for work and field of view on games but its still lacking imo.

I've checked for a "gaming" ultrawide that aint a VA panel and its only LG and they're hard to find them in my parts let alone very expensive as well.

I dont wanna go 4k as I think its too much gpu work. I'm only lucky I got a 3080 when the prices where sane. But I dont think I will be licky next time.
