I know ads are here on TPU for numerous reasons. im not saying they need to leave. they are fine with me.

however... some of the ads are getting kinda odd.

i can understand technology related ads, and maybe sports, news, political, vehicle, and such. maybe even popular sites like ebay, newegg, crutchfield and similar as well. but some of these ads are getting weird. like the ad i saw first thing this morning trying to sell me some womens underwear. or the one last night wanting me to sign up to find singles in my area.... which it tried to locate me and failed by about 40 miles.

every once in a while i get a popup ad. NOT GOOD. i though maybe by some miracle i had gotten some adware somehow. nope.... i get another popup on a computer freshly loaded with windows. it only happens every once in a while but it's kinda annoying.

anyone else notice this or am i just going nutz?

if you can somehow live with the ads please let them show. its what finances this site

the ads on the right side will be cached in your browser, so they load like once in a few hours

i know that ads on the top are quite irrelevant but those are what the ads network is providing. i wish we had more technology related advertisers, but those are not easy to get

there shouldn't be ANY popups at all on TPU, please screenshot if you get one.

nah... im not complaining about it. it's just the content of the ads. i mean... what if we start getting offensive stuff? not that i'd be offended in any way but some people might. like adult friend finder.

im thinking your using google adsense. i wouldnt think that they would let ads like that through but you never know.

i guess i'll have to start getting some screenshots for you guys.

yea but £5 is just £5 for me, can only just buy you two pints. But if everyone donated £5, or just 100 people, then that's £500 to help keep the site running.

I think the ads read off what sites you go to and recommend stuff  I see Age of Conan and other game ads most of the time.

exactly - im sure alot of people would be willing to put some money in, and it could not only go towards keeping TPU running, but also to upgrading the site, expanding to TPU franchise, etc etc!

well i know tpu has a paypal account...and i know it might be tacky but you could always get a donate button......they give you the code for the button so i imagine you could change the color what it says etc..so it doesnt stand out so much.....or so its out of the way under misc you could set up a link that simply says donate and have it go to like www.tpu.com/donate were theirs a paragraph saying how it isnt needed and youd rather like them to get drunk but you know at the end say if they want to evey dollar counts and then have the donate button. its on a seperate page and it makes it not stand out so it doesnt make tpu look ''give me money'' ish i think it could work...its better than you coming into a thread and telling people to go to donate@techpowerup.com everytime someone askes if they can.

o btw apparently on the home page i have a new message from a buddy 400 miles away and if i read this message i get a free xbox what i nice guy shame i never met him..maybe i won him over with my forum charm.
