me 3 looool.

But puzzled why he thinks it's a backlight which makes me think he don't know or it is actually a LCD type screen..

Tube junk. TV bye bye.:(

Sorry have to disagree on that, cannot see the newer LCD type ones lasting as long.

And is that the actually picture or reflection ?. And if it is a tube type likes like the back board might of partly gone.

It doesn't look like a LCD to me. The power light is on and I see the classic blown tube glow.

No it's a CRT from around 6 years ago. Reflection on the screen. Don't know much about tv's, you probably picked that up.

I don't have any magnets in the house so i don't see how it could be that.

CRT TVs dont have backlights, you also get that when the tube gets burnt out, our old one did it.

CRTs hate static images, that often gets displayed in game menus.

ok, it didn't show any signs that it was dying (are there any?). It was working fine yesterday. Is it expensive to replace?

Something else that might help is that the TV comes on with distorted light on the screen (like above) and then it goes to a blank screen (power light is still on) and stays there for maybe 30secs before going back to the distorted light for 5-10secs and then repeating again.

:( I think you're right. The power light takes about 5 secs to go off after i press the power button when it used to go off instantly. Does this suggest anything?
