I am not entirely sure whether to be impressed or scandalized.

Benchmark Scores They suck.
My Online Trusted Hardware Advisor™ recently gave the CableMod 12VHPWR cable a (0/10) tabasco pepper rating so it had to go. Also 850W was cutting it close - more power was needed. So let's kill two birds with one credit card. Bonus points for compatible cables so I don't have to rewire everything. :rockout:

nice! listing at my etailer are about 212chf/$ ... not too expensive for a unite like that

well, i am budget constrained but my 104.90chf 1000w Chieftec Proton is holding quite nice... not regreting my purchase, quite surprised if i might say, Chieftec has come a long way (well OEM platform for that line is Sirtec/Sirfa, while not as respectable as Seasonic, they are quite good nonetheless )

Me and my big mouth :fear:

If my cable kit didn't lock me into the Corsair ecosystem the Vertex would have been mighty compelling. Those new sleeved stock cables look gorgeous. Good to see more PSU makers taking after the SF600/SF750's example, PSUs are already expensive enough.

I needed an excuse anyway

So about the cables....

I didn't even realize that they were anything other than the standard ugly black 'zip-cord'. I just went and opened the box, and, well, it's the standard ugly black zip-cord, but ribbed textured for someone's pleasure.

I checked with Seasonic support to verify if the pin-out was the same as the Prime and they confirmed. I think I'll keep the already managed smooth cables installed (other than the 12VHPWR).

I see, not quite on the same level as SF750 then, at a glance it looked similar. I'd definitely ditch that for paracord. Still, for stock cables, anything beats a fat bundle of Techflex. Been seeing a lot of those "unsleeved" cables from pslate recently, has a rather unique look.

I thought your 12VHPWR looked quite nice, actually. Couldn't tell from the pictures. It's just the white version that looks horrific.

the new power connector still scares the living shit out of me personally. seems like all the burning stuff has died down though. just have to make sure the cable has plenty of room and you don't bend it too much I guess.

It's okay I guess. Still prefer 8-pins since they last longer and give a lot more tactile feedback. But it's really the SFF crowd that is being tortured by 12VHPWR, would make life easier if Nvidia still had the connectors at an angle like on RTX30 FE cards. Cablemod makes these now though, makes life a little easier:

If you have a big enough case with enough width I don't see a problem with 12VHPWR. If you're already used to sleeved kits and taking the time to work on your cable management, you should already have a habit of running gentle curves and not subjecting things to extreme contortionist abuse.

I read through the newegg reviews and someone mentioned that they had expected something more than the texture so I'm guessing there might have been something going around to imply that they were going to be sleeved cables.

I'm ok with the look of the CableMod, but it's my first experience with something other than what comes with the power supply so I didn't really know what to expect/look for. The comments going on the in RTX4000 thread mentioned something about even the CableMod's melting. That's really the last thing I need to worry about lol.

Yeah, same here. I unfortunately did all this to myself. I originally had the 4080 and bought the CableMod because I didn't want to use the included 3x8 pin PCIe adapter. Then in a moment of (weakness, stupidity, idiocy, etc.) I decided to go all out and get the 4090. That card comes with a 4x8 pin PCIe adapter. Even though the CableMod 3x8 says it's approved for 600w, I didn't feel quite right. If I hadn't upgraded to the 4090 I could have just ordered a cable from Seasonic, but I felt the 850w might be at the edge of what was needed. So here I am with another power supply. Luckily my case is pretty wide so it allows a really big curve so that the 12VHPWR connector isn't stressed in any way. I'll post a photo this weekend (hopefully) once the power supply's been swapped out.

My Asrock B450M Steel Legend that I ordered last Sunday just arrived today. (Shipping from West to East Malaysia usually takes that long :|)

Quick question (probably not worth its own thread), given all hardware and even the chipset is the same, can I just transfer my M.2 SSD containing my Win 10 installation to the new motherboard? And just in case it matters, the Win 10 installation is linked to my MS account.

You can but it depends on what type of licence you have. If you have one of those cheap OEM keys you may need to get a new key (Depends on how many times you have reinstalled). If you have a retail version you don't have to worry as that licence allows for up to 20 PCs in your MS Account. You should have the option when Windows says it is not activated by picking the I have updated Hardware recently Option.

Case DAOTECH X9
Power Supply SF450
Took the 16 pin and a longer 8 pin to complement the SF450. It's 18 AWG but the recepticles are of the stronger one piece type I think. The cables are connected side by side what i like about it as opposed to the newer platinum model that has them separated as in the picture above.

:rockout:

Vertex? Is that a new series? o_O I'm stuck with Focus and Prime, maybe I'm getting old.

the new power connector still scares the living shit out of me personally. seems like all the burning stuff has died down though. just have to make sure the cable has plenty of room and you don't bend it too much I guess.
That's the theory of it... I'd still like to avoid it if possible, though. Not just because of the burning cables, but also because I don't want or need a 600 Watt card.
