When can we expect RTX 3000 back in stock at MSRP? Any idea?

Wasnt it reported by TSMC that the shortage can go as far as late 2022?

I am patient if anything. Still rocking my 1080 :D

I'm not just rocking but smooth sailing with a 1080 TI :p ... TBH won't be looking to upgrade whether the MSRP-BIGFOOT is sighted or not. Maybe next GEN/or so. After much contemplation i'm just not feeling that wallet-emptying run for the next big thing anymore. I guess we're in a different world today (u know.. covid.. lockdowns... etc) and i've been compelled to make adjustments and now see these cards way overpriced (even at MSRP). In a worst case scenario I've still got that playing card... switch 1440p in-game setting to 1080p and boom nothing to worry about. Dunno if it's just me but 1080p on a 1440p panel looks fantastic and maintains some of that image sharpness. Maybe the higher pixel count helps?

It's like asking = how long is a piece of string.

I've still got my Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti Waterforce Extreme OC 11Gb which is coping very well.

When I do the next major u/g, it'll probably be a GTX 4080/5080 Ti

You should be fine with that 1080 Ti for a while. Might have to turn some settings down from ultra to high but really the difference is very little imo

"waterforce"... that's where I'm at!! Looking to give my EVGA SC Black a low temp + acoustically pleasing mod with a G12 AIO bracket and a 280 mil rad. At the moment i'm hitting around 78-80c and it does run a little loud. Got the idea from some dude online suggesting a drop of 30c+ in temps and super quiet - that would be nice! Thanks, was meaning to query with TPU mod legends hence gonna post up another thread.

hi m8,

30c drop = very likely, as mine never gets past 50-60c under load and sits at about 26-32c under normal loads.

My system is full custom loop with i7-7700K OC'd and CPU de-lided and Griz Conductonaut liquid metal, + Gygabyte Z270 mobo + 1080 card running through a 360 rad.

SWEET this is the type of confirmation I'm looking for :)

I just posted up another thread for the cause... would really appreciate your input: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/gpu-mod-with-g12-bracket-and-aio.281744/

BTW, i got a 7700K too but not delidded. lol why did you mention "delidding"... i always wanted to go down that route for a more temp-favourable 5Ghz OC but never got around to it and than just forgot about it. Thanks to you i'm already getting excited lol Thing is I wouldn;t do it myself... what do you make of those Ebay sellers who offer this type of service. Some have a pretty good feedback record.

i

mean they will once silicon is no longer used
and that will have to happen if we want to get faster pcs

That tech is still an unknown, and why would it mean the prices would be "normal" anyway? What is normal, and how long do they have to be abnormal before we think of them as normal?

Back when we had the previous crypto boom around 2017 the price of cards like the RX580 and GTX 1070 were severely affected. But the prices dropped pretty quickly once the crypto crashed and supply caught up. This time around the silicon shortages are the main reason why we're looking at such a long time for things to return to normal.

The same GPU chip manufacturers produce chips for the automotive industry (/others) too?
They do, but not the same node AFAIK, and I've yet to see some info that proves they do. To me it seems like the lack of GPU's comes from the high demand of GPU's. I don't really think car sales skyrocketed last year, but I do know that GPU's did, so there's no point in blaming the car production when they're not even using the same node. Still, it's all related, obviously, to a certain degree.

I like a smart ass :D

Keep speculating partner ;)
Hey you started it. :p Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, you know. Implying that car chips are more profitable than any GPU's without knowing any financial figures is just a wild guess. My wild guess is that the mining craze knocked the production of everything else, including car chips, not the other way around. Yeah, what a weird idea I've got going on there.
