Personally, I'm really torn.
One one hand, I want a new 60-65'' tv, and if those Vizio P's launch any time soon (whenever 'Fall' turns out to be) the AUO-made 65'' seem like they will be a pretty good option for my setup, minus potential glare issues (and the absence of 3D is kind of a bummer). That's the only thing making me even consider another 1080p set. I kind of like the prospect of upgrading every four years. Four years from now *should* mean decent options for OLED, and 4 years from then 8k.
On the other hand, the wait & see (♫ risuku ga aru kara koso ♫ ) folks have a lot of logic on their side. How will 1080p (gaming/video) look on some of these screens? Certainly the tech has a ways to go in both spec/quality maturation, not to mention prices dropping on decent offerings. There is the gpu issue, which probably won't make sense for a lot of people (including myself) until 16nm, which is at least two product cycles away.
I put this year, as I think my will power isn't going to hold out, but for the more logical amongst us I think 2016 or even later will probably make the most sense.
