when is quad core not really quad core

AMD has all for Cores on a single die and intel used 2
thats why they are saying the phemom is the first true quad core.
and sure it may not make that much difference to some, but other see it as an engineering benchmark simply because AMD was the first to do it, regardless if intel had the ability to do it or not.

A processor is something that sits on your mainboard, as long as it has four processing cores, It's a quad-core processor regardless of how it's designed.

agree! but thats what the whole argument is about, to tell u the truth i dont really care but i choose amd cuz they are cheaper and and fit my needs better, i mean come on 1000 bucks for a cpu seems a little bit much for me!

Oh so the point has shifted to pricing? Well surprise, you get a Q6600 for as low as $260, just about $30 more than a Phenom 9600 and the performance increment the Q6600 has over the 9600 is more than worth it being $30 more.

4 x 1 = 4.

2 x 2 = 4 too....yay.

well there gunna have to do more than that if they wanna compete with a 6 core cpu
