It seems like they are nowhere to be found. Nvidia's 1060 was launched almost 2 weeks after the RX 480 and it not only has retail availability, but their AIBs are up for grabs on Newegg.
Fry's has 2 RX 480 reference cards on backorder. Microcenter doesn't have anything at all.
AMD has nothing but reference design cards available. Even then, you're lucky to find a reference board in stock. I'm sure I'm not the only one waiting for these things to go on sale. Does this have anything to do with their distribution channels? Anyone got any information?

PowerColor Devil is supposed to launch on July 29. Otherwise, I don't know.

Speaking as a long time AMD fan, the whole situation with their 480 launch and subsequent availability really gets under my skin. For all the crap nvidia gets for their paper launches, as has been said above, they managed to coordinate the launch of their reference cards alongside the AIB designs. I wanted an rx 480 on launch, but I didn't want to deal with the cooler, so I figured wait a couple weeks at most and the 480 AIBs will be out in force. Coming up on a month since polaris launch and not only can I not get my hands on a reference card (I can't tell if availability is shit or they just sell too fast, there are conflicting theories) but still, no AIBs.

Honestly I'm over both launches at this point. Mid range is where I can afford to spend my money, but I refuse to pay the premium for the 1060 because it just feels like nvidia tax to me, on the other hand I'm literally disgusted with AMD and how trashy they've become. There was a rumor that the RTG wanted to split off from AMD as a whole and so they deliberately screwed up, I forget where I heard it, and to be fair at the time I thought it was conspiracy theory bs, but now I have less confidence in that position given the ineptitude in AMDs strategies.

RTG was created for the distinct purpose of making it easier to split it off. If RTG was separate, there's a good chance they would have gone with TSMC instead of Global Foundries and, by doing so, they would have ended up with a far more competitive product.

I'm thinking AMD has fallen silent because priorities are shifting. It should be abundantly clear to them now that Global Foundries has problems. My hopes are that they're getting them fixed.
