i think most of it is just reused or thrown out.

A lot of people recycle their computers at best buy which are amd athlons p4, a few p3's but its mostly old machines. But the majority, i think is just thrown away and is in land fields

I can understand throwing away some things. Anything newer than Socket 478 shouldn't be thrown out. IIRC even the s478 celerons can be of use in the hands of the right people. I think it was possible to hit 4GHz on a s478 celeron...

here almost all stores actually SELL pIII, pIV as new when they are in fact refurbished garbage from the rich countries. Geforce 4 here is the glory for most people.

If that's the case, I've got an original Athlon system I had until I built my Core 2, Voodoo 2 5500, Riva Tnt, an assortment of sdram, a pile of ide hard drives, and 2 or 3 boards/cpus.

Didn't take the time to read the posts but the answer is simple.

If you want an answer just ask your self what did you do with your own Junk and you realize where they all are at. Most people just keep if not sell them so they are scatered around in peoples houses.

My HD2900Pro died so I sent it back and got my money, My X1300 I sold and my friend is using.

My AMD Athlon 3800+ I have right behind me and my 4200+ X2 I sold on Ebay.

Like I said just look at what you did with your old stuff and it pretty much applies to everyone else thus answering your question.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE ALL THE OLD COMPUTER STUFF GOES? IT GOES TO THE POOR COUNTRIES LIKE MINE ONE OR AFRICA. Here you still see PIII as new when there are in fact refurbished. Almost all people think a pentium IV is a top notch computer and dont know what is either a core 2 duo or even AMD. Most people doesnt know that GeForce is just a brand of nvida, they dont know what nvidia or ati is. Also the most common type of memory here are DIMM are DDR. So the answer to the post question is: The third world countries

Im still using my 920 C0, im happy with it.. 3.8ghz 24/7 at 1.20v rock solid, good enough for me.. 4.0-4.2 for benching.

I do have some older hardware in my closet though, Not alot.. Never really thought about it until now, but it is interesting.. where DOES it go?

It's simple, a lot of this stuff is sitll being used. You see top end hardware being sold frequently as people like ot keep their gaming/benching machine as powerful as possible. But when they pick up something that isn't top end, but isn't horrible, or if they can't see something, it moves to a lesser rig. My gfs rig is all parts that I have passed down to her that I didn't sell. And I also have a bunch of old hardware from old comps just sitting in boxed. Soon a AMD 2500+ Barton will feel the pain of 1/2" loop and OCing.
