Where does the GTX 1070 Ti Fall

Just had a quick question. In terms of performance where does the GTX 1070 Ti Fall compared to current Gen cards. Would it be around the RTX 3050 or RTX 3060 ?

I ask because I need one more GPU and I was offered a 1070Ti but not sure where it lands for performance vs newer Gen cards and this Gen not included in charts anymore

1070 Ti is around the 3050 I think, a little faster. 2060 is about equivalent to 1080 so a little ahead. 3060 is about the same as a 2060 Super/2070 (between 1080 and 1080 Ti in most non-DLSS games), a bit out of reach of a 1070 Ti.

I would say the 1070 Ti is a wee bit faster than the RTX 3050 in raster performance, the 3060 reviews here on TPU still have older gen cards included you can somewhat compare from those.

I have a 1070 and based on the various benches on YT the 3050 is very similar depending on the game but tends to fall off in newer titles a little.

Here is another - For example it is way faster in Horizon Zero, but only 10FPS (Which is about 1.2%) faster in Cyberpunk and Red Dead.

Realistically newer cards are better. Not only in DLSS, but also in terms of having better renderers for other stuff, etc. I can ensure you there will be bigger difference than %5 on newer titles.

I know that it's a hot take, but DLSS doesn't really matter. It's not some magic cure for low fps and its upscaling is still not great. If you need more performance, you are still much better off just turning down settings or resolution. And on cards like 3060 ray tracing is still mostly useless, because if you don't use DLSS (which tanks quality), then you won't get decent fps. 3060 is a wonderful card for 1440p and is even usable with 4k, but with RT, it's 1080p only card. That's way too big hit to performance for nothing really noticeable. And on old card like 1070 Ti, you can still use FSR (it sucks too, but so does DLSS) if you want. Depending on price 1070 Ti could be a great deal even today, meanwhile 3060 is basically guaranteed to be overpriced (due to scalping and too high initial MSRP).

DLSS actually matters to a wonderful degree if you know what you're doing. Like up in WZ, with it set to quality I can shoot 105 FPS most the time easily, heavy settings. Other forms of AA tank that down to 70's and 80's with ease. RTX shouldn't be a concern with these cards, obviously.

Well, yeah, the Twin-Frozr was a good cooler with those cards. I had various 1080's with it. But no argument that it'll still dissipate more heat than a 6600 or similar, while performing worse. Second hand card it is. Meh.

1070Ti is very close to 5% slower than an RTX2060 6GB at all resolutions, and the 2060 is in the TPU charts for both W1zzard's 3050 and 3060 reviews:

DLSS is supersampling (with downscaling resolution low and then reconstructing it with AI, so no surprise that it looks bad) not antialiasing. And it looks worse than FXAA and it way slower than FXAA. RTX is a concern, because it doesn't really do much visually and tanks performance. You could achieve similar results with just setting resolution slower, setting MSAA to 4x and adding some sharpening. Would look better and without AI artifacts. All in all, DLSS and RTX is way overhyped and fails to truly deliver. You want some next level graphics, do SSAA instead and watch your card cry. Now that looks significantly better, but requires shit ton of computing power. I don't think that GTA 5 would be playable at 1080p with 8x SSAA, but it would look great.

The argument about futureproofness is more legit, but it seems that nobody really cares about it too much (as shown by RX 6400 and RX 6500 XT comments about removing decade old features).

Poor argument bringing poor comments. Yes, DLSS is that, but quality settings work well and I don't get jaggies. So why should I do 4x MSAA at 3440x1440 knowing it'll tank my performance to the ground? FXAA sort of sucks, that's why also...

Just reference the 3060 reviews here on TPU, like this one. Looks like the 1070Ti is around 20-30% behind the 3060 for 1080/1440p.

Then reference the 3050 review here on TPU, like this one. Looks like the 3050 is around 35-40% behind the 3060 for 1080/1440p.

That'll give you a good idea of where the 1070Ti falls.

Will keep it stock as it's not for me. trying to upgrade the wifes rig and daughters rigs. Both are at 1920x1200 60Hz
