Which 144Hz monitor?

We're a bit limited for 144Hz choice down here and in my price range are the LG 32GK650F and the Samsung JG50 WQHD (curved) - both are 144Hz , 1440p and response times between 1 and 5.
I'm not an expert on monitors and currently have a Samsung curved 27 60-72hz, but I'm looking for something more modern to go with my new RX5700 XT. Not sure if the Samsung supports FreeSync though.
Will I notice the difference between 60-72Hz and 144Hz?
Both have excellent reviews especially in their price range.

How many people have experience in using a 32" monitor?
I'm curious to know whether it's too big for the FOV and causes neck ache or similar.
I'm still heading for 1440p/144Hz but can't make up my mind about 27" or 32".

Depends, you'll probably have to adjust your viewing position, move back 10 cm and you'll be fine (or just use monitor arm). People say 27" is the sweet spot on QHD.

That being said LG comes with external powerbrick instead of a built-in powersupply. I seem to recall some people complaining about coil whine or something coming out of it.

Q27G2(U) has flat 27" variant that's seems to be decent for a VA panel. For "budget" 1440p IPS there's also Gigabyte M27Q. One problem with Gigabyte is that it uses different subpixel layout:

I've had the LE 32GK650F for a while now and I've been very happy with it. My desk is deep so there isn't a problem with FOV & neck. That said, I don't play FPSers any more. Mostly racing and flying sims.

For about the same price I can get a Samsung 32" 4K monitor but I'm still leaning towards the LG 32" 1440p 144Hz because it ticks all the right boxes:
1440p
144Hz
FreeSync
Adjustable height

i personally dont go over 27" for monitors if gaming is involved.
i find anything over 120Hz is moot, since you need the FPS to drive the refresh rate, & i dont play anything my 2080ti drives past 120fps
my monitors go to 160hz or something around there, but i set one to 60Hz since i use it for video & web browsing, & my gaming screen to 120Hz max

I've recently got a 32" monitor. Sitting right next to my older 24" one. I don't have a problem with size. In fact, after adjusting to the new setup for a while, the 32" doesn't seem much bigger anymore. It's 4k though, so yeah, a lot more desktop space that way.

I bought a Dell 32 Curved monitor (S3220DGF) a couple months ago and really like it. I was worried about the size, but have had no issues since owning it. My previous monitor though was a 30" Dell. I was also concerned about it being a VA panel and not a IPS. Again though, no issues as of yet!
It checks all your requirements you listed above as well. Just my two cents~

Well, it finally arrived late last night and when I opened the box I thought I may have gone over the top - it's huge!
However, once I fired up a few games - Cyberpunk, SOTTR, Watch Dogs 2 - the immersion was so much more than my Samsung 27" and after a few adjustments in height and distance, as well as icon resizing and some other details, I'm well chuffed.
I can't see one single pixel and the picture is perfect, not needing any adjustments whatsoever. Gaming in 1440p seems a much richer experience and I don't need to move my head, which is what I was concerned about.
It also came with a DP cable and I downloaded On Screen Control, but haven't made any changes yet because none are required.

I'm pretty sure it could do with a calibration, but it's probably not a requirement for gaming.
For a semi-accurate calibration and keeping your eyes from bleeding, I would suggest these:
1. set contrast to 100% (lower contrast tends to result in longer response times)
2. place a sheet of white paper next to the monitor and and adjust brightness to match that of the paper as close as possible (this should get you close to the ideal 120cd/sqm)
3. adjust R, G and B channels until the white is white enough (this is the most difficult step, since you don't have a reference white to match)
4. enjoy (you may skip this step, it's optional

Isn't 100% contrast going to produce lots of crushed tones? I've never seen that work out well... but maybe its panel specific. Usually if you don't stick to 50%, you'll get trouble calibrating and gamma curve is f*cked.

LG 32GK650F is better than Samsung JG50 on paper and by user's reviews.

Only negative thing is that "1ms with Motion Blur Reduction" thing. I prefer 1ms without gimmicks... like ASUS VA monitors.

Ive recently upgraded (downgraded) to a 2560x1440p 32" monitor and I love it. I personally dont sit upright when I am at my home computer (my arms go dead after a bit sitting upright for some reason) but rather lean all the way back in my chair and prop my feet up on the bottom side of a trash can for a makeshift foot rest and I sit like that for hours :laugh:

Other than that, I dont have issues with FOV or any neck aches or the like.

what are the foot things under your desk? some kind of massager? or just a place to rest your feet? is there science that resting your feet that way is more healthy or something? I'm curious because my feet always seem to hurt here lately. thoughts?

A 144Hz monitor is well worth it and the visual difference on motion will be immediately obvious, even on the desktop just moving the pointer around. Windows will glide smoothly and of course, the most benefit will come in action games. Much less motion blur, too.

Plus, it's a really great time to buy a video card that can push 100fps+ at QHD or UHD resolutions

Yeah, totally. When I got my first 144Hz monitor in 2012 I was on a GTX 580 and that could do 144Hz in many games (I still have it, in fact). Cards have obviously only gotten better since then.

If one is a gamer, then 144Hz or better is a no brainer.

Looks like an angled foot rest. Angled foot rests can help with lower back issues.

I've had a S3220DGF about a year, its a great product. To make the purchase I looked at a few of the monitors in this thread and the Dell was nicer in my opinion. At the time it was $350, but it is a lot more expensive now.

I really like my Samsung 27" curved which I now use for work, but couldn't find a 32" 144Hz curved in the right price range.
I have to say that 32" vs 27" is a huge upgrade for me in terms of the overall experience.
