may sound weird, but

Asus and Linksys (which rule I broke, I just bought a linksys router again)

Both brands work incredibly well, are probably some of the best performing on the market, especially the linksys routers, and in the last ten years I have lost:

3 Asus motherboards
1 Asus video card
3 linksys routers
1 linkysys hub

They have all FAILED in just under two years. I keep reading awesome reviews on these guys and it makes me think "Well maybe I'll try them one more time...." and without fail they go blewy (usually a capacitor) between 14 and 24 months.

Its not the powersupplys or dirty power where I live either. I've only lost one abit board due to a watercooling oops, and one MSI board which died when the power went out and the board never came back on.. intrestingly enought thats the one that had the ASUS vid card in it that also doesn't work anymore, however the other two computers running at the time in the house, one MSI board with two Saphire 3870 cards, and a Gigabyte board with Gigabyte video were both fine.

so out of ten years and about fifteen different computers I've lost 5 motherboards, one due to a leak, one due to the power company, and three Asus boards due to shitty caps.

I've only had 1 video card fail, and that was the asus mentioned above.

I've had 3 hubs, the only failure was a linksys, and the intel and D-link hubs are both old but still work to this day

of 6 routers. 3 failed and were all linksys, 2 became too slow and were replaced due to tech advancements, and one the one cheap Belkin worked awesome as long as it never got over 78 degrees in the apartment. I'm currently running a linksys router again and fully expect it to blow in 14-24 months but while its working I think its the fastest and most reliable I've ever owned.

Oops, I forgot those lazy bastards.

I like their PMPs... ;-)
I don't like their software skills.
----
Will Buy From again-
DFI- Warranty Service is good. 2 1/2 week turn around time.

AMD- Have been there for me since the beginning. (K6 era and even today)

ATI- Have had reliable drivers and support since I got my first ATI card back in 2000.. ATI Rage Fury MAXX (which still works)

OCZ- I have bought 2 sets of their memory... one being the DDR1 OCZ Platinum XTC and the other are the Reapers HPC. Both did their respective timings or better and no memtest errors.

SeaSonic Ltd.- Greatest PSU manufacturer imho. Been loyal ever since the Enlight 235W PSU that was built back in 1998. Gives you 118W on the 12V rail. They have also overspec'd many of their builds and I have yet to have one fail or take out a part.

Microsoft- Zune was the greatest PMP in terms of ease of use and decent sound quality. It also had an AMAZING LCD.

SkullCandy- 3 products that have rocked my eardrums out until I destroyed the product through accidental means... Ink'd Buds, LowRiders and an odd pair of clip on headset thingy... They had great bass and lasted a long time.
----------
Will NOT buy from again-
Sapphire- Customer Support shot themselves in the head on this one. Bye Sapphire... enjoy watching yourself rot.
Intel- For Obvious reasons.
NetGear- Routers fail 1-3 weeks after warranty expires... ALL THE TIME... ALL 3 wireless routers failed because of Capacitor's exploding or failing.

The freezer 7 pro was terrible. The mounting was pathetic, well the pushpin in general, and it didn't keep my stuff cool at all.

Not for me, maybe it is for the major OCers(which im not), and i do agree about the mounting system, but that doesn't only fall under the Freezer 7 Pro.

Errrrrrrrrr where do i begin????

Maxtor/Hitachi & Possibly seagate hard drives - because they seem to have a habit of dying really early on. I had a Seagate Barracuda 80Gb that died within 2 weeks of ripping the anti static bag off. Im not impressed.

Biostar motherboards -what could have been a perfect overclockers board ended up at less then half its potential - it got great reviews all around but I just had to get sent a duff board which didnt like running above 448FSB.

Creative - anything MADE by them is a big nono for me - I might be running a XFi Fatality Pro card but once thats dead im not going back to them. I dont think i need to explain WHY i wont buy another one of their cards. I also had a set of speakers made by them which had a ton of problems with.

Iiyama TFT monitors - they might look good & at most. their monitors are of fairly decent quality. but a year later the DVI port stopped working on it forcing me to connect through a Analogue port with a DVI to analogue adaptor.

thats about it i think.

Probably Never will buy a Samsung F1 TB drive again. I plugged it into my GA-X38 and it bricked. Something about the LBA table rewritten...Samsung is aware of the issue and claims a BIOS update tothe mobo will fix it...uh no. It's now a 32MB F1. That really pissed me off. Selling a TB drive knowing that it could brick up on certain mobos is just wrong. I have 4 750GB F1s that are awesome and 3 other 1 TB F1s that run great...super fast. But still...no more F1s...

ECS motherboards. I got one that some shmuck on Neweg reviewed as a "good overclocker" that had no BIOS options to OC or adjust voltages at all. Not exactly ECS's fault...but I decided to shy away.

No open box MSI motherboards...had one that would not let me into BIOS at all...

No EK Full coverage blocks for the HD4870X2..they'll brick the card even if you go to great pains to carefully mount them and only barely titghten the screws...

No Alphacool 1510 pumps. Bought three and two were faulty and the one that was not faulty was loud. Fixed one of the broken ones and it's quiet so actually all three had some flaw.

No more Alphacool Ultra Pumps. I had to RMA to PPC twice before I got on that did not growl. The ones that work work suprememly well...dead silent...the ones that growl just get louder over time and there isno remedy. I don't like to RMA and for $120 they should get it right the first time.

No more SilenX fans. They simply do not last as long as you need them to last and they develop annoying sounds over time as the fluid dries up or leaks out of the bearing. Pretty...but frail.

No more HW labs radiators of any description. They are Epic Fail IMO and somehow have carved a niche into the LC scene despite their lackluster performance (except using ridiculously loud High CFM fans).

No more PrimoFlex tubing...the plasticizer leaches out of it and looks like someone hacked up a loogy in your waterblock.

No more Feser green dye. It's evil. Toxic. Fades rapidly. Reacts with other dyes and additives in a bad way. Tracerline is the WTG.

Sadly no more Asus motherboards...I've had a number of them go bad...and I think that Asus might need to do some quality control upgrades...I'm liking DFI over Asus now.

No more crap PSUs ever. Actually this was one of the first rules I learned. You have to know who makes the guts...the brand name is almost irrelevant. Just because a Silverstone Zeus 560 is hard like viagra wood doesn't mean the DA1200 is the same...

There's more, much more, but I don't want toget too depressed remembering all the FAIL.

On the bright side there are some things which are like pillars of Virtue in a sea of shit.

The Entire Line of Thermochill radiators is still awesome good in a world of hype.

The MCP655 is pretty much the standard by which pumps are judged...ditto the DDC pumps...God love Laing...

EK reservoirs are damn near perfect.

The MCR line of radiators are the best bang for the buck without equal.

Almost everyone makes good fittings and barbs and stuff now...there is no more crap...no more mixed metals or steel toworry about..now it's all about bling and price points.

Despite the hype I'd buy almost any of the top rated waterblocks. 1C difference is not enough to make me spend triple the money on whatever the latest hyped (HK) cooler is making the rounds...the d-tek, Swiftech and Koolance blocks are all so close in performance it's more about what you are trying to sell yourself...

I'm a forgiving guy, even if I have a exprerience with a brand. But there are some brand I really dont' like that much.

- Trendnet for their lack of driver update for WIFI PCI cards and the endless hardware revisions.

- ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI because their BIOS don't have any advanced fan control (Voltage, Temperature setting, etc). GOD Abit had it perfect YEARS ago, is it that complicated?

- Microsoft for making some of the worst input devices I have owned. My new Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 has the LOUDEST scroll mouse ever!

On the other hand, I recommend:

- Logitech for their great products, I own tons of their stuff, quality and good price. Not to mention the fast and quality customer support. (Once my gamepad failed, they send me a brand new one. :))

- Coolermaster for making the CM690, really the best case for tight budget. Tons of fans spots and great cable management.

- Thermalright, sure it's expensive, but it's QUALITY! After buying low-end coolers (Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 for example), I decided to give it a try, and I say, I can't go back, Really fantastic products.

I can't say I'll never buy a Thermaltake Case again because I never actually bought one...but after moding several I just don't like them.

Antec on the other hand is awesome and CM has had a run of very nice cases...but a bit too over bobulated with tooless crap and semi functional bling...but I would defo buy CM cases again...

I'll buy anything as long as the price is right and the piece of hardware fits my needs. I would know if the hardware fits my needs a head of time by doing research on that particular piece of hardware.

I would hesitate to purchase anything Asus, but not so much because of the products themselves, rather the abysmal "Technical Support" Asus <does not> offer.

I haven't really had anything yet I wouldn't buy, I had an MSI board die but they sent me a new one and I still like some of their boards. Brand preference I've found is usually wrong, everyone's got horror stories and success stories about all. I'll take the middle ground usually. Product is always more important.

I'll buy anything that's worth my money.
