Which drive. Having trouble choosing.

I am ditching my 500GB drive for a 2TB and making 2 ~1TB partitions. One for games I don't need on my SSD, and the other for normal storage. Pictures, downloads, music, etc. which is usually backed up to my file server too.

Im debating between the following

Western Digital Green 2TB
Western Digital WD Green WD20EZRX 2TB IntelliPower...

Seagate Barracuda 2TB
Seagate Barracuda STBD2000101 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Ca...

Same prices.

You don't want to put games on a WD "green" (It's slow). No brainer, get the Seagate.

Dave does it, with no problems. He has his whole Steam library on one I am pretty sure.

I didn't say it doesn't work. You list two HDD's and ask a question. If you feel you already know the answer, by all means get the slower drive. As someone who once owned a WD Green, I would never again.

No, I have a Seagate Green 5900 RPM 64 MB cache, 2 TB HDD with my STEAM backup on it. It works fine, up to 160 MB/s, but that's only for the beginning of the drive, the end is about 60 MB/s. My main STEAM drive is 2 TB 7200 RPM Seagate.

I also have WD GREEN 1TB, and it's 8096 block size makes it pretty slow, but it's fine for audio and video playback, just slow for writes, compared to eh 1 TB Seagate Barracuda I have.

Take the Seagate.

I dont really like WD so lets start out with that. I did some testing on the WD Green Intellipower drives. They are variable speed and incredibly fast for a green drive. The 1Tb I tested was faster then a WD 500Gb Black Drive (of course it was older) I was getting speeds from 120Mb to 160Mb

I have a Green one. It works fine but yes a bit slow than the Seagates. However, I Seagate drives have a greater failure rate than WD. I am using the WD listed on my spec for more than 2 years and still today it has got no bad sector or any other errors.
