So I just finished 5, I'm not buying new Dawn till it goes on sale and besides I have a back catalogue.

I've beaten 1, 2, 3, and 5.

I have yet to play Blood Dragon, 4, or Primal.

Which should I play next, and yes I own them, got them from humble awhile back as part of the FarCry bundle or ubi bundle, for primal and 4, and I've had blood dragon just never got around to it.

Order I played them in, FarCry, FarCry 3, FarCry 2, then FarCry 5.

I'd say Blood Dragon, though 4 can be alright if you're really into the gameplay loop that 3 offers (and 5).

Its just a bit samey, if your last one was 5 I'm not so sure it'll be that noteworthy.

Primal though... I guess its an option if Blood Dragon theme doesn't appeal to you much. Same stuff different skin :p

Its strange but for some reason the FC that stayed with me the most was and is still number 2. It felt the most authentic, as in, you're the lone guy wandering Africa killing bad guys. Guns get jammed, you get ill, it really does spice the whole thing up. And the environment especially for its time is just spot on.

Blood Dragon, then 4, Primal isn't really worth playing unless you just want to complete the series. Then again I'm weird, since I enjoyed New Dawn ;p

I like 4 the best, I still love Blood Dragon -- it's hilarious but 4 is more the classic far cry story. Also it's the closest to 5 in terms of feel. New Dawn is really good too, the only let down is the final bossfight but it's like 10 mins out of 20 hours so nbd.

4. Blood Dragon wasn't that funny and the map design wasn't that great. Weapon balance was kind of off to. And the neon graphics wear on you very quickly. It was worth a play through but got old quick and it is good it was only a DLC.

FC4 adds some nice vertical climbing to FC and was fairly fun. FC5 sucked in comparison.

My favorite part of FarCry 5 was attack choppers, i know it makes it easy mode, but i so do love them.

Blood Dragon was fun imo, also liked Primal actually cause I found the settting to be cool and unusual even if it was mostly a re skin.

FC 5 I just can't get into for some reason, doesn't hold my interest.

Oh wow, I can not disagree more. This is an example of different people's tastes rendering different experiences. I love Blood Dragon! It is easily my fav of the Far Cry series.

I played 1,2,3,4, and blood dragon. Of those, I liked the first, third, and blood dragon. Fourth felt so similar to the third but I didn't like the plot and the villain was weak compared to Vaas. After playing 3, there didn't feel like much point to playing 4. It felt like more of the same.

Yeah, Pagan Minn wasn't as much a badass like Vass, more like the other assholes in FC3; weirdos, not badasses.

Shooting him in the face was fun. :)

The Original was the best as far as enemies go, tho.

Those cute little chimp-sized Trigens can rip your face off with one hit, if you aren't armored. :)

There's a 64-bit HDR patch out there, that Still looks amazing after all these years.

I have to agree that it might be my favorite one, although Far Cry also has a very positive rating wwith me too. The only gripe I have with FC2 is the instant respawn of the enemy patrols and checkpoints. But the environment, the game mechanics such as poor weapons and illness were great! There were times I could actually almost smell the environment! And the fire was revolutionary the way it spreads and leaves destruction in its wake!

The enemy respawn and the inability to use grass or vegetation as cover. Since all the bad guys could see you through everything.

Yup that is one thing that really grinds my gear; respawning enemies too quickly on checkpoints. Hearing the roaring technical coming to you in the hedge really annoys me, makes me swap for M79 and blow them off.

They wanted to remaster Crysis, what they should do is remaster Far Cry 2004

Onto the recommendation, Blood Dragon is more of DLC and short but still fun. If you want full fledged game go for FC4. Although Far Cry 4 is repetitive and underwhelming compared to 3, it still worth playing. M79 plus the buzzer is pretty much OP. I cant get my head to Primal because of the primitive language  it felt odd, and I'm not into those kind of games though some might like it.

I'd love to see FarCry ported to the newest cryengine and let them melt systems again, but it won't happen, ubi I think would rather ignore that it exists

Far Cry 2 graphics gave me a headache, not sure if it was the color scheme, blurriness, or the FOV. I could not get past that aspect of it.

Oh man... Forest Fire Simulator. Yep. I spent hours. :D Bad guys surrounded by fire... many epic moments were created :D

Thinking back on that game.. I think what also made the environment in a big way was that the assets were not that generic yet. They were truly built to represent Africa. From 3 onwards, they seemed to have fallen back on a more condensed set of assets with some stuff applied on them to make them look different. In FC2, everything is just one big cohesive thing, and yes there are generic buildings too, but they could never be placed anywhere else. How different is it with FC3 and onwards... I still see the same assets pass by in number 5. Its that little bit of extra attention to detail that makes it stand out I think.

What's even funnier is that the same assets can also be found in Far Cry 3rd person...errrr I mean Ghost Recon Wildlands :D Primal took FC4's map... Ubisoft does like its efficiency :)

The enemy respawn and the inability to use grass or vegetation as cover. Since all the bad guys could see you through everything.
Yeah, that always irritated the crap out of me too. They could even see through buildings... To me it's effectively the game engine cheating, which is why I never had a problem putting the game in devmode and using cheats myself.

That would be an awesome remaster for RTX
True!
