First post here I see. I see you paired your 3rd gen Ryzen with a 2nd gen board. Have you tried a X570 board with your 3700X CPU? Anyways, It doesnt matter, as this thread is about gpu's.
I am patiently waiting for the Sapphire RX 5700 Pulse to get back in stock so I can buy one.
I have made 2 other systems for my friends with x570 chipset, 1 asus prime x570, 2nd msi gaming edge wifi x570. the performance and feel was the same.
But i dont know if you understand me, i had such high hopes with this ALL AMD rig that my dissapointment was massive.... Dont get me wrong, i like to tinker with stuff, to make them work, thats why i have kept it for so many months. But before radeon driver 20.1.1 i could not play warcraft 3 at alll, starcraft 2 had a strage feel, Heroes 3( i know i know
) had weird issues...i was WTF??????
And every time i switched back to the old rig, all the problems just were fixed...everything was smooth, responsive, i cant put it into words...
After that i took my AMD rig to a friends home, wich has an i9 9900(build by me again) and started testing.
Dont get me wrong, i did not expect for AMD to surpass the i9...but side by side, the sistems, to me at least, were diferent. Big excel files were handeled much better in i9(even on my i5 8400), idle pwr diference was masive, and for me it matters, since i lissen music from my pc most of the time, and other small quirks that i cant remember now.
To put it into percentages, id say AMD system was 80% stable and usable, but intel system was 100%.
It is not much, but those 20% of small things, that are most of them random glitches, got the best of me. I-m tired to wait for fixes from AMD.
As a general advice, if you guys buy and ryzen CPU, pair it with a Nvidia GPU...i see it is working perfectly.
The problems i have are all random, are not repeatable, i use W10 1909, last updates, thats why i think that the problems are driver related.
BTW - for me, W10 Balanced power plan worked the best for me. Ryzen Pwr Plan caused me some weird things with performance not being consistent, and the idle pwr consumption jumped with another 15-20w. I know i put alot of importance on idle power, but this is how my PC works 70% of time(idle or low load) and for this AMD+Radeon its a no go for me.
Plussssssssssss, on idle, the Ryzen CPU the temperature is all over the place...and the funny thing is that it takes the FAN with it....from 30 degrees, to 55, fan from 10% to 60% and its weird
) now silent, now loud, now silent, now loud....and i-ve got a Thermaltake versa c23 case with 2x12cm fans in front, 2x12cm fans on top, 1x12 cm fan on the back....sooo it has enough air in there...
