So we're back to SLI?
If you want more GPU performance than a GTX 980 Ti or Titan X immediately then SLI is the only option.

However, it would be a very good idea to buy a single 980 Ti for now and if you find you need more performance then next year buy a Flagship Pascal and sell the 980 Ti. It is not difficult to swap out a video card and you would get more for your money this way. Save money on the PSU this way also rather than SLI 980 Ti.

I have the money but im not convinced about TI .... why to buy car when you can drive to school by bicycle.
If u want drive to school with bicycle and u are not a hardcore gamer THEN "use a single monitor" and buy 1x gtx 960...............

us for your main question the 6gb of ram from the 980ti are gonna keep you 2 more years without need of upgrade for your surround gaming rig on the other hand 2 x 970 with just 4gb of ram are going to ask it much sooner if u consider that dx 12 games are coming

Why and why? Any proper explanation? I heard that SLI is nothing more than problems but i never had advanced gaming set up like this. GTX980 TI is too much but Dual 960 or 970 or single 980 is something that i can afford.
Go a Single 980 then, there are still too many games out there that dont play right with SLi or Crossfire

Well thanks @Toothless. I think that cdawall is more than enough for 3 monitor gaming and working in multiple adobe softwares.
