Which GTX1080 should I get with these conditions?

Hello!

I've been thinking of upgrading my 780 Ti which has lasted me a good two years but seems to be lagging behind lately.

I have a few ideas, but I really need to know should I go with a reference cooler or a aftermarket one. I understand that Aftermarkets are better 99.9% of the time but are generally ones that blow hot air into the case.

I have a very hot room. No airflow, very little room and almost constant 80-85*F ambient temps (~26*C-29*c) at all times except for days that outside temperatures are at or below 60*F. My EVGA Dual Classified 780 Ti (ACX) would always run @ 84*C whenever I played anything that was somewhat intensive. I want the hybrid ones like the EVGA FTW Hybrid or MSI's Sea Hawk X but they're either unreleased or too expensive for my taste.

As you can see from the picture, the left side of the case (which is open) is blowing right into the boxspring, the back of the computer is blowing straight into the wall and the front (which is also open aside from dust filters) which is blowing air in. I plan to get some more fans to help out more with the cooling and switch the air direction but am still indecisive on the model I should get.

So, I'm asking some more experienced and intelligent people on advice. Should I go reference or aftermarket?

Thank you.

I'm not sure a hybrid card would help in that situation, the lack of airflow is a problem, as mentioned a card with good airflow is required.
With the case open, having a card that doesn't vent directly outside the case shouldn't be an issue, and after market cards are generally cooler and quieter.
Edit: Is it possible to lift the case on top of something in that space so there is less restriction, a few bricks maybe, or a small wooden box?

Sadly, I'd be more scared of accidentally rolling into my computer at night while making a mess of both my arm and the components. I'm just getting a reference design. I'm honestly too lazy to wait two days for shipping and I have no plans on overclocking. I don't care much for noise (headphones) so fan noise isn't a bother and as long as the card doesn't decide to kill itself due to the heat, I have no problems. If anything, I can probably return my GPU if I feel that it's not going to be worth it.

I appreciate the answers and sorry for finishing the questionnaire so quickly. I'm just a bit impulsive about my buys lmao.

Why not use put your case on that desk, so that the part touching the wood would be against the wall.

the option or Re-arrange the situation or at least colocate your Rig on a better place is available?
its not wise to leave the case like that and no wonder how it could be improved, airflow is pretty important...

You are better off with an aftermarket card. The only benefit the reference card has is that it helps exhaust air out of the case. But in your situation, that isn't going to do much because of the poor airflow in the case anyway. So going with a card with a more efficient cooler, that can pull more heat away from the GPU even in a hot environment, is the better option.

What case is that? What is shown in the picture does not seem to be the 500R listed in your system specs, although, it really doesn't matter. H440 Looking for a case...

If you get one of these "hybrid" GPU's, you wouldn't have to replace your case.

It's a corner desk with absolutely no room on the top part cause it has no space. The bottom part of the desk is filled with boxes bigger than my computer so I can't really relocate it as much as I would like. This is exactly what it looks like (I'm surprised I found a picture of it lmao)

Regards,

I would, but the free space in my room is literally less than the room in my car. I have the shittiest situation ever when it comes to my room otherwise I'd love to change it around but in my circumstances, I have no choice.

I figured that much. I just really don't have the option of another placement and the hot air was going right back into the case due to the bed being so close to the side. I plan to try and perhaps get a new desk so I can rearrange everything better. I have a 14 day return policy so if I'm seeing some nasty throttle or temperatures, I can return and hopefully get my money back to order a aftermarket cooler. Thank you for the reply.

I very rarely get on this website sadly and that was my original plan for a case until I found the H440. I just haven't updated it yet.

So, after having to completely update my Windows and install new drivers... I can say that getting the Reference model is a great idea for me. I played Overwatch for about ten minutes at max settings @ 1440p and it only went to 67*C max. It might go higher but it was actually dropping in some areas. I used MSI Afterburner to bring my fan speeds to 100% at certain temperatures so that might have helped a bit. However, I am satisfied with the purchase so far and I'll update to let you all know.

That's actually a pretty damned good idea. I might do that one day so I free up some of the space there. I appreciate the idea.

Just get the ACX 3.0. Great temps, no throttling. I got the FTW, waste of money. Only the kingpin editions got the best dies so the ATX is the way to go imo. Or suffer possible throttling. Heat is a non-issue with the ATX. Hybrids are overkill imo. These cards run cooler in general than the 7 series. I would seriously consider the wall mount idea as well..

at the very least get a desk small fan to put behind the case to blow the hot air up and away from the machine.
