For sure, it the Core 2 Duo. It really surpasses the AMD Black Edition very well.

Go for the cheaper solution! So you may get 20s in superpi vs 14 or so, but in the real world it won't help you much. AMD!

Yes they can, but only the Black Editon since they are manufactured at 65nm.

the 5000+ black is 65nm, kinda low clock speed, but potentially capable of going 3.4-3.5+

the 6400+ black is 90nm, which i doubt can go much higher than stock speed

3 ghz for a core 2 is extremely low if you have a good cooler and memory. Most Core 2's can get in the range of 3.3-4.0 as a broad view. More than often they fall into 3.5+.

Wah? So because Intel's CPU's are currently faster, cooler, and more efficient than anything AMD has to offer means they are of less quality? Nah, I'm just gonna assume sarcasm on that one.

Let's compare prices.
AMD 5000+ Black Edition 2.6GHz: $129.99
What does Intel have for $129.99? Core 2 Duo E4400 2GHz

Stock, AMD wins. Most system builders do not overclock.

Now let's see what Intel has at 2.6GHz: Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz for $194.99
Stock, AMD loses. Overclock them both to 3GHz, AMD loses. Overclock AMD to 3.6 like this guy is planning, keep Core 2 at 3GHz, AMD either wins or loses by a small margin, but even at the even 3GHz, AMD is only 5 give or take a couple FPS behind.. and you saved $65 over a meager difference in games nobody will notice. Benchmarks, sure AMD gets pummeled, but who cares about benchmarks when you're gaming?
