For a 2700x which one is better GIGABYTE AORUS X470 ULTRA GAMING or MSI X570-A PRO?

MSI is on offer so it is very close to the x470 price wise.

I inteded to O/c 2700x to 4.2 if voltage required is not crazy.

If you like a really hot VRM then the a-Pro is a good choice. (strongly recommend against it - in case it wasn't clear).
Especially for that CPU, x570 is pointless anyway. x470/b450 is the better fit.

Neither would be my choice .... but the Gigabyte has not been reviewed as well and has far lower ratings on newegg

Gigabyte
5 eggs - 27%
4 eggs - 12%
3 eggs - 12%
2 eggs - 9%
1 egg - 40%

MSI
5 eggs - 58%
4 eggs - 15%
3 eggs - 0%
2 eggs - 8%
1 egg - 19%

We don't recommend the low budget series boards as to meee the price point, they generally have to go with substandard sound / LAN subsystems ... by the time you get the better stuff in there (i.e. ALC 1220) , the price difference to X / Z series boards is minimal. Of late while the better subsystems in the budget boards used to be a rarity ... we are seeing more and more include the bettter options ... Still for the small proce increase I like the options that X and Z series boards provide.

Just get the board you want.
The cpu will probably wall at 4.2/4.3ghz (all core static/manual o.c.), may require some 1.450v or more. Then, it just runs hot and you loose efficiency.
Best place for a 2700x is about 4ghz and as far under 1.400v as you can get it stable.
Actively cool your VRM package area while overclocking this chip, will help eliminate throttling.

Ofc i will just wanted to hear a perspective i might have missed or some real life opinions.

Yeah i was thinking also about going beyond 1.4v for longer term use. i will fidlle. If i get 4.0 -4.1 below 1.4 i will stop.

As for cooling VRm i will get a 120mm rear exhaust and a 140mm top exhaust.

I have MSI X570 Gaming Plus I got for $125. On a 3700X even with PBO on max testing with Super Pi & Prime95 (5 hour run) 73c max. I don't see the VRMs as hot as people report. I also have it inside a Define C with the moduvent on. 1 exhaust fan 120mm @ 800rpm and I like the house warm 24c.

VRMs
Idle = 38c
Media = 41c
Gaming = 53c

Well 73C is not ideal but far from 120C that most VRM have limit.
In any case below the 180-190$ point, the MSI X570 are the worst boards from VRM perspective and cooling them.
All ASUS are the best in this section. To 180-200$ ASUS, Gigabyte, Asrock. The one MSI that is stands out before top tier is the Unify at the ~300$. Until that point there are other very nice options at 200~250$ from ASUS and Gigabyte.

Under 150$ the only one I can suggest is the ASUS Prime X570-P
