I'd only buy a console if it would have an addition like the PS2 with it's DVD player had, the PS3 with it's bluray and the PS4 with Netflix support, lol. Other then that frankly i'm a hardcore PC gamer only. But if i had to choose, it would be the PS5 obviously within a blink.

I've had a PlayStation ever since the original PSX. At the time I wanted a Saturn because I had a Mega Drive and it seemed like the next logical step, but the Saturn was more expensive so I compromised and got the PlayStation. We all know how that went down, so in hindsight I was pretty glad I picked up the PlayStation instead.

Then over the years, I kept getting the new consoles: PS2, PS3, and PS4. I've felt that PlayStation has always had the best exclusives among it's peers. I've never been too interested in the world of Nintendo (although I sure played a lot of Zelda on GameBoy when I was young), and as others have pointed out a lot of the Xbox games seem to end up on PC (pretty happy about Halo Collection coming to Steam BTW).

Having a PlayStation combined with having a gaming PC has always kind of covered all bases for me. If I want the ultimate experience from multi-platform games in high resolution and crazy frame rates, then my PC in all its glory is there. If I want to couch it for a couple of hours and play whatever the latest PlayStation exclusive is, the PS5 will be there.

Xbox Series X, though PC gaming is my preference. But if I had to choose, it's the Xbox. They also have a solid list games coming out.
Hopefully Microsoft gets this right this time. For any reason, if they somehow mess up this console launch, they are toast.

These are consoles, they aren't in direct competition with gaming PCs. Both serve completely different markets, yet both need each other for overall success.
Sure I can see Big Navi and Ampere being faster over both XSX and PS5, performance wise discrete gaming PCs will always be upgradable and expandable and FASTER that's what they are meant to do. Consoles are meant for the upmost convenience, stability, ease of use and plug/play etc.,

XSX and PS5 cannot cost more than $499 for a proper launch success. And that performance to value proposition is something a gaming PC will NEVER be able to compete with. Despite both serving different market segments. Keep that in mind when trying to compare the 2.

And based on the known console specifications from both Micro$oft and $ony, these consoles should smash the sales buttons versus the previous consoles, because of what's inside them. ZEN2 and RDNA2? That's some serious hardware tech inside them, unlike the previous last generation.

PS5 if I had to chose.

But given the situation with the world and I am currently unemployed, the real answer is, none of them right now.

Why would I buy a Series X when all its games release on PC ? I heard it isnt getting any exclusives to use its 'power' for the first 2 years because MS wants all games to have Xbox One versions? Even worse of a proposition.

At least with PS5 it will have exclusives that can utilise its power and unique features (like 5GB/s SSD with 12-channel memory controller).

On launch date? Neither.
However, PlayStation has ALWAYS had the better exclusives. I honestly have 0 reasons to go for Xbox unless I wanted to play Halo or contribute further to the US' bloated economy.
My criteria for getting PS5 on launch is if followed up on that rumor of being backwards compatible to all PlayStations before it. I have PS2 games and no longer have a PS2, nor do I want to have so many consoles plugged on my TV so the amazing convenience this would bring would be unparalleled. But since this seems very unlikely to be the case, I will be waiting for PS5 Pro/Slim.
In the meantime, got PC, PS4, and Switch to keep me busy, as well as an Xbox One X I bought second hand for the sole purpose of watching 4K UHD BluRays.

None of them due to the big cost of the games. I would try to get PS5 ONLY IF it was compatible with all previous consoles, especially PS3.

If I were getting either I'd opt for the PS5 Sony's exclusives to me are more compelling and I personally like their controllers drastically more than the xbox ones which I quite dislike.

I will get PS5 for sure at some point - I will be waiting for 2nd revision and pricedrop, no hurry.

I might get the Xbox too, if there's a reason to (aka Exclusives worth buying).

Considering the PS5 Unreal Engine demo if the Xbox can't also run it then well they've got their work cutout for them. Most impressive demo I've seen in ages personally. The star wars RTX demo was cool and hype, but this demo is far more impressive to me the level of geometric detail combined with the lighting and shading is truly impressive. I said it before rasterization geometric detail and texture mapping is still a lot more important in the grand scheme though a bit of lighting and shading can go a long way. That said if you've got less geometric detail in a scene you can afford to increase the lighting and shading detail quality further. I'm a huge fan of the variable rate shading that has big potential.

- Persona 5
- Horizon: Zero Dawn
- Shadow of the Colossus
- The Last Guardian
- Detroit Become Human
- Death Stranding.
- Final Fantasy VII Remake.

come to realize that list is longer than my job in the office :D

Neither.

I have never owned a console. One of the reasons is the fact that there has never been enough interesting games for a console in order for me to want to buy one.
