is there a big difference between 2gb and 1gb VRAM

Actually there is, there are some modern games that do benefit. Might I ask, what resolution are you gaming on and full specs of PC?

Next month? Do youhave any references to back that up? Last i heard was 5-6 months for kepler to come out.

How long ago was that? Again alot of what I post is "hear-say", and from that is an early April launch as of late last month.

Its really not worth paying the extra so the factory and overclock it for you. Its relatively difficult to physically 'damage' a video by overclocking as long as you dont touch the voltage. Id get the stock, and use MSI Afterburner to OC, it works great. Easy to tell if its stable, just run Furmark for 15 min and watch carefully to see if theres any artifacting.... if there is, back it off abit. NBD. Only reason to ever spend more than you normally would, is if your actually getting something physically better, aka More framebuffer/shaders/mem bandwidth.

Assuming your from the US Guessing from newegg.COM (Im canadian)

You can go with something like this
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004TA6RY0/?tag=tec06d-20

This is the 2gb version, i have the xfx of this card. I love it :), and once kepler comes out im sure it will drop , but its still one of the best price/performance cards right now. 100%.

The 560TI and 6950 trade blows but after all the reviews I have read, IF the game requires alot of tessellation, then the 560TI is better at that. Honestly though GO FOR THE 2GB! You will NOT regret it

I was the biggest Nvidia fanboy ever, up until a few weeks ago. To be honest, it depends what games you will be playing, some take advantage of differnt companies technologies, others dont. Its more of whats teh best price/performance at this point in the game. Example: When the 680's come out, the AMD series will most likely take a drop in prices to stay competitive. Will 680 a 680 beat a 7970? Yes they will. But probably cost 200$ more. In that case, instead of going 1 680, you can go 2 x 7970
for like 150$ total more, and have something better than a 680. Considering both 7xxx and 6xx series are 28 nm die shrink. You really need to guess how much you want to spend.

In my opinion, for something under 250$, that 6950 2gb card, is the top. Unless your willing to spend alot more for 15 fps increase... Then there are other options available, but at much higher cost.

Do you ever plan on multi monitor gaming? Theres nothign stopping you from putting in another 6950 2gb card to crossfire in a few months if they drop. You could spend 150$ for another 6950 (guessing after price drop of kepler) then youd have yourself something that in most situations destroys a gtx 580.

2gb ftw. Thats one thing i will say negative about nvidia, all of their cards are all low framebuffer, 560 ti's with liek 1.25 gb, or w/e. Bleh, amd did it right with their mem bandwidths/framebuffers
