Which of these DVD SATA burners should I get?
I will get two of these cables to accommodate them.
I have the exact same model as this ....
But without Lightscribe, so far its been stable and has no problems reading/burning anything I throw at it. I think it just comes down to personal preference between brands.
lite on looks good , looks like has more functions than the samsung . Personally , i too have a IDE burner , but i dont think i'll upgrade it . coz thats the most unused component in my PC and not a lot perfromance difference . as long as its working its fine. I'll wait for blu ray burners to get cheaper .
Get the phillips, it's cheapest AND it has lightscribe.
Lol. Mixed reviews all around.
I was going to get an LG burner and really the only ones they had was a Blu-Ray burner for 156 (i think), one that has SecureDisc tech and the other was out of stock.
Gonna try for an LG DVD-ROM in sata flavor.
The only reason im getting them in SATA is to do away with IDE forever and to have less clutter.
yes i agree, but u could always turn that ide mammoth into an ant .
If that's the case just get an ide-sata converter, that's what I use on my old IDE burner, I got it for like $4 on ebay and have never had any problems with it. I'll try to dig up a link for you.
Edit: here's the link
I know it's not the best solution, but it's cheaper and faster.
I dont do things that way. Thanks though.
I went from this to this. Hoped I would gain a bit of speed in the move to SATA, it's also a tad faster is times. Never noticed any difference at all between the two. I never used lightscribe, but it's a nice feature if you want it, making samsung the best. I think they are all pretty much the same.
Im not looking for speed advantages here. More so less clutter and better air flow.
Out of that selection get the Samsung.
For another option I'd recommend this one
Yeah that was actually the main reason I did too. I got bunches of sata ports and one ide, and those ribbons take up so much space. But I was saying there isn't much difference b/t them, if you want lightscribe do samsung, if not whichever, they'll be the same pretty much.
I like Lite-On.
Ended up finding an LG sata burner on ZZF. So I wound up with the following:
LG GH20NS15 20X SATA DVD Burner Black Drive Retail
LITEON DH-16D2S-04 16X SATA DVD ROM Black Drive
Ive thought about Lightscribe in the past before and to me it just seems like a waste because you have to buy special CD's and DVD's for them and it just isnt worth it. Ill stick to the good ol CD marker.
Thanks for the input guys and gal.
Crash if u haven't bought one already go for the samsung. They have the fastest write and read speeds and amazingly quiet. I own a couple of Lite-ons too, but my Samsung is great. Thats my two cents.
